Adult Swim Thread

Spacehog 07-02-2005 11:32 PM
This might not be extremely interesting to some people, but I thought I would mention it none the less. There is this thread on the Adult Swim Action board where people are voting for different characters and against others. It's called "Best of the Best Action Elimination". If you are a member of the Adult Swim forums, you should go on there and vote for Roger. You never know who might be watching from the higher ups right?
Wingnut 07-03-2005 12:27 AM
Where exactly are these polls? Can you provide a link to the exact location?
Spacehog 07-03-2005 10:21 AM
I think this should work, but let me know if it doesn't

The link does work, thanks to Spacehog.

I found out that owing to the rather primitive rules of casting a vote, we can easily send Roger to the top of the list -- if we are unified and motivated enough of course.

Rule no. 1: in order to vote, you take a vote away from one candidate and add it to your favourite one. I learnt a lesson when I wanted to subtract a vote from the top candidate for Roger: the fan of the other side immediately retaliate and subtract my vote from Roger. So my advice is to attack the weakest candidate first. Once the weakest candidate's vote drops to zero, he or she will be eliminated. And then we can turn to go after the next weakest candidate.

Rule no. 2: everyone is allowed to cast one vote EVERYDAY! So remember go back to Adult Swim to vote every and each day. Less than a week I guess Roger will swipe all the votes.

ONE IMPORTANT REMINDER: Check out carefully the updated voting results before casting a vote! I just saw a Roger fan try to subtract a vote from Inuyasha for Roger but it turns out that Inuyasha has long been eliminated and gone! So that vote didn't count... Don't repeat the same mistake: turn to the later page of that thread and find out the current remaining candidate before you vote!

So Big O fans, Action!

The Adult Swim boards fail.

There really is little point in those competitions, this is like the 8th one of those threads.

May I ask what the results of the previous 7 competitions are? If Roger has won all 7 of them, then there is really no point to win just another one. But I guess that's not the case.

I was exaggerating.

I mean that very few people really care about or take seriously the outcome of these threads.
Spacehog 07-04-2005 01:05 AM
I agree with you Zopwx, sort of. I mean, I really doubt that Roger winning this thing will make a difference in the fight to get a new show. However, what else is there to do on those Adult Swim boards? I believe it was said that we need to get on these boards and "make some noise" to get attention. It might help a little, you never know! But you are probably right.
lhlam 07-04-2005 01:40 AM
I agree with Spacehog. The bottom line is: it doesn't hurt if we help Roger win, and only those within the CN admin. are in the position to decide what is pointless and what is not, not us.

By the way, one supplement to my strategy to win: I have suggested attacking the weakest opponent first, so that we can eliminate him or her and snatch his or her vote for Roger. But remember to check out the updated record and the newest votes cast by the others first. I just notice that a comrade who subtracted a vote from the weakest candidate and add it to Roger, but unfortunately everyone tonight was attacking the same candidate who has run out of his vote. So there is no vote anymore to take away from him, and it's highly probable that this vote for Roger won't count. So make sure that the weakest candidate you are attacking still has enough votes to be taken away; otherwise your vote for Roger would become invalid.

After one day of labor, I think Roger has risen from the fourth place to the first place! So keep it up.

I don't care if Roger wins, those boards blow in comparison to this one. There's so many users!.

I can't have custom avatars, or a pic in my sig. There's way too many users, and then the way it's formatted is all wumpy. It's just like the 1up boards. Those are slightly better.

i'm glad PCF isn't under any major company, so that they have to abide by certain rules.

I love adult swim, but...grrrr...those boards.... Mad

I think you're a bit confused with what is at stake. We are not supporting adult swim boards. Who cares whether they have a lousy design or whether we have our custom avatars? We are talking about demonstrate our support for The Big O right at the site of Adult Swim. Whether the site is beautified or not is not the point.

Sure it won't hurt.

All I'm saying is that you'd lose a considerable amount of time in front of a computer screen when you could be out doing something important/fun.

P.S.

There really ISN'T much to do on those boards anyway.

I see there is really a strong tendency of exaggeration here... All we have to do is vote ONCE every day. It's a more economical way to use one's time than keep writing discouraging messages that contradict one's alleged purpose to make Season Three happen. It's not very wise to spend your time teaching others how to use their time.

If there was the time of day to do those things, we would. But, we've got some ranting to do. I'm gonna go over there, vote, and deactivate my message boards account.
lhlam 07-05-2005 03:28 AM
Thanks Sir Nise. What you did proves something I believe: whoever logins these Paradigm City Forums, she or he has already decided to contribute some time to the meanningful show The Big O. That means WE have already made a decision of how to prioritize things in response to the quality of the show. Whether what we do can or cannot bring the show back is not the only or most important issue. What is most important is that even when the show remains dormant -- maybe forever-- we stay hopeful and active and rally together around it.

Here is the updated result of the Best of the Best Action Elimination Competition from the Adult Swim board:

quote:

34 - Spike
34 - Vash
21 - Kiba
17 - Robin
30 - Ed
27 - Kazuma
32 - Major
33 - Lil Slugger
31 - Mugen
46 - Roger Smith, the Big O 3 campange seems to really add the votes.
23 - The Blue
28 - Conan
35 - Haruko
10 - Lupin

See, we have been sending our crystal clear message. And we will keep doing this!

P.S. By the way, again check carefully the updated ranking list before casting a vote. There is again another Big O fan who cast an invalid vote for Roger but against Inuyasha -- because Inuyasha has been long gone! Roger has lost one vote everyday because of this similar mistake.
Platypus_hunter, if you are around, vote again.
Captain Maw 07-05-2005 06:18 AM
maybe instead of eliminating the weakest vote: we can all choose our elimination votes to our closest rival.
Spacehog 07-05-2005 08:29 AM
Yeah! (As said by Datsun) Looks like Adult Swim is feeling the people's rage eh? That scoreboard says it all. Let's keep up the fight! Even if it isn't doesn't convince the AS people, I think that the people on these forums that have never heard of or seen Big O will be intrigued. I know for my part that I have been more interested by some of the characters that are doing well. I don't recognize most of them (I'm new to anime thanks to Big O). But now I might give some of those shows a shot. If there are people on those boards like me, then we are winning new viewers. I am more and more convinced that this is something we should pursue.

That's not a bad idea, though it will prolong the competition, because the votes of the weakest candidate can be added back to him when we are fighting the closest candidate.

Besides, the closest candidate has quite a number of fans. Attacking him or her might trigger a war of retaliation. I tried once attacking Haroku, and immediately got a counter-attack from Haroku's fan. So I suggest saving this strategy to a later stage of the competiton.

Once again, a reminder: check the updated ranking list before voting to see 1) whether the enemy you vote against still exists; 2) whether he or she still has enough votes for you and others to take away. If the enemy has run out of the votes he or she has, you won't be able to add that vote to Roger.

We are getting attacked from all sides at this point, so we need to end this competition before we are squaring off against like 20 other shows.

I could not agree with Spacehog more. Now there is an emergent situation: my nightmare came true, as fans of other candidates now realize our threat and have a tendency to attack Roger. Our support for Roger remains strong, but the votes never exceed 46 in total, because other people keep stealing votes from him. And the distance from other closest opponents is drastically cut short today.

So any prolongation of the competition would do nothing good to us. Please concentrate our fire to elmininate the weakest opponent first: that is Lupin, who has only 10 votes or something, but we have failed to take him down today simply because we didn't focus. Time runs against us. If other opponents' fans continue to attack Roger, we can't keep him in the first place forever.

As for the 3rd season "signal," pray that it's true.
Spacehog 07-06-2005 12:52 AM
Well, I got my roomates and brother into the mix and we finished off Lupin finally!!! Check out the 5 person assault that we unleashed all at once, it's a thing of beauty.

- Lupin OUT!!!

Good work people! We now have a commanding lead and word is getting out. My roomates will probably vote with us for a while. They think that it is funny that we are teaming up like this. I might get my brother's roomates to do the same thing. I'm getting them into the show as well. This thread is a Godsend!
