Dragonball Z : UNCUT!!!!

It's good and all, but I still had a pedestal in my heart for the older voice actors who did the original dub. Ever since they changed VA in the middle of the Ginyu Force saga their voices were...stale and I still believe it is. I'm not sure if anyone agrees with me, but I remember the old school voice actors sounding menacing, almost demon-like in comparison to the non-enthusiastic ones (except when they power-up, they probably feed them beans or something to make it sound good).

I really liked Vegeta's old voice myself. I can't wait to see the newer guy screw up Vegeta's cool lines when he's about to use his Galic Gun (Or whatever its called.) To destroy the Earth. I used to love this and the Freeza Saga back when I was in Junior High and High School. The Buu Saga is what killed any interest I had in the show.

I really miss the old cast too. They just fit the characters so much better, and weren't just some nobodies. They gave the main role to A MAN WHO WORKED AS A PUPPETEER. And when Funimation first did the dub, they had like 4 people do the voices. And the voice actors themeselves made their own changes to each character. Sean Schmmel (sp) completely screwed up Kaiou-sama.
But I think the worst voice changes were the Ginyu Force. The Ocean voices (who only played them for like, 4 episodes) did a wonderful job. The only voice that was a little 'iffy' was Jees' British accent (although not as annoying as Chris Sabat's accent). Captain Ginyu had a wonderful voice in the Ocean dub, even Chris Psaros said he was better than the original seiyuu! Then, in the Funimation dub, he sounded like a freaking pro-wrestler. Eck. Atleast some of the voices sound better now, it took them like what 200 episodes, but some of them sound okay. Gohan, Kuririn, Kami, Popo, and Kame senin are the only characters that sound good now. Everyone else, just don't fit the bill. Raditz's new guy is terrible, his delivery on his lines are horrible. Some of Raditz's old lines really had me cracking up ("Why so blue, Green man? Is it because your friend's about to die? Of is it because you're just plain ugly. The line just didn't work in the redub.
Well, I'll end my rant now..

I think the only FUNimation voice actor I actually thought did an amazing job was the voice of Cell's "Perfect" form. It really did fit his character, even though I've never heard his Japanese counterpart, he makes the "everyday" cast seem so out of place when they have to respond to his demon-sounding threats. He also had a very awesome evil laughter that pretty much blew me away. Sure beats the crap out of Freiza, who sounded like an old lady who's been smoking since the universe began to cool.

I thought Krillin's voice fit him pretty well...but thats just my opinion...

I disagree. I think Vegita's old voice was horrible. Actually, neither were very good, but I liked the second one better.

That site has GOT to be the BEST DBZ site EVER!
And, I thouroghly agree that the old VAs were better, especially Captain Ginyu, but I can deal with that for the greater good of seeing it uncut.
Man, FUNimation sure has improved since the days of that site.

I myself really liked Captain Ginyu's newer voice better. While Ginyu was strong and intimidating, he was still a clown. He had cleaver catch phrases and poses that he used in the middle of battles.
"The captain's coming to get you!"
I thought a Pro Wrestler like voice fit his character’s cheesy personality perfectly.

Though I had heard about this, I didn't realise it was on until about a week ago when I was desprately trying to escape from 'Drawn Together'.
I gotta admit, I'd forgotten how cool DBZ was before the Buu saga. I they keep going all the way up to Cell, I'll be very happy.

It's a great reviaval for DBZ fans of all sorts with more Blood/Gore to suit the needs of the hardcore dbz bloog lust fans and better dialouge for the Dub nut's. I honestly like it but it seems little changes are detectable in the Saiyan Saga. two thumbs up!!!

Back when Toonami was doing the midnight run with Gundam Wing, DBZ was always played before it uncut. This is nothing new..
The man who originally played Vegeta also played Piccolo, Nappa, and Jeice.. so yeah it does sound weird at first.. Eventually Scott McNeil just ends up with Piccolo so it's all good. ^.^
I know there are going to be people who read this and say I'm lying because of that stupid commerical that Cartoon Network is running, but if you want to investigate it, go right ahead.

No it wasn't. Gundam Wing aired 'uncut' (I heard there were still edits), but not DBZ..

I have all the same things taped. Both the promos and the shows.
Only Gandam W was uncut!

I'm pretty sure I heard they cut all parts involving Launch out of the DBZ saga. It was cool to see over 10 minutes of footage containing that character in the latest episode they aired. I am pretty sure she wasn't there before because I had no idea who she was when they first started airing Dragonball. (I saw most of DBZ before I ever say Dragonball.)

Looks like HFIL is Hell like it should be. And LAUNCH was cut out in the original? I am going to kill someone at Funimation.

Yes, Lunch was completely removed from the original dub. It's a shame too, since Lunch is the most underrated character of all Dragon Ball. Akira Toriyama completely forgot about her in the manga. He played it off as 'Lunch is searching for Tenshinhan'. All of Lunch's scenes in DBZ are filler. It's kind of sad, in the anime..
| spoiler (highlight to read): |
| Lunch never finds out that Tenshinhan was revived after his battle with Nappa. So we assume she's just moved on with life. |

I always thought she ended up marrying Tien. Must have read some false information there. I am at least glad they forgot about that stupid Frankenstien Android from the Red Ribbon days. That guy really pissed me off.

I finally remembered to watch, and it was interesting to see the Lunch (Launch?) scenes that were removed before.
Aw, Umino that's a shame, it did seem like she was totally forgotten, but to hear it was more or less true.

Pretty sad about her and Tien.
