It's almost time for episode 2 of Samurai Champloo! I'm glad a lot of you seem to be enjoying the show so far, or have seen it before and already like it. It keeps getting better...enjoy!

This one is just great for the sentimental value.
spoiler (highlight to read): |
Not to spoil anything, but you sympathize with the guy who dies. And the asassin guy is pretty interesting too.
Assasin:
"But they say that males sometimes end up calling each other instead"
Jin:
"I'll be going now" |

That episode was pretty neat. I feel bad about the large guy.

Well, I have to say, that I really enjoyed that. It wasn't as mysterious and plot heavy as Full Metal Alchemist, but definatly a great show. All of the characters were likeable, and the fighting was awesome. I'm not much of a hip hop fan, but I enjoyed the music as well. I'm looking forward to next weeks episode, as I'm sure it can only get better. I also wonder if we are going to see anymore of the assasin, because other than the one odd and slightly homosexual statement, he was pretty cool.

I can't wait to see where this goes, but knowing the creators, I bet it has a sad ending.

Cool episode, think the first one was probably better though, still I think the characters and the fighting are awesome. Seeing Mugen say dude and yo in feudal Japan is priceless. Also loved the gay joke.

Well its still early so not much important stuff is happening yet.
I like the fighting and the music, but that recycled Frankenstien storyline wasn't that exciting.
Although AS seems to be not as afraid to allow the occasianal "bitch" or near love scene.

pshhh... the occasional "bitch" and non-provacative love scene happens at least a 4 times a day during my commute on the train. ages 0-? present. i doubt it's risque at all.
The second episode wasn't as good as the first, but still was entertaining. I have to say that
spoiler (highlight to read): |
the ogre guy had to die, seeing how he'd never be accepted by society and would keep on killing, going down his sad path |
i love the slight homosexuality of the assasin, and another fav. scene is when the dog barks and he freaks out. (his voice is so calming, so non-threatening)
How exactly do the three get along? probably find out later.

It wasn't that I gave a sh** about those things, I'm just noticing how slowly Cartoon Network is letting things slide that they probably wouldn't have shown a year ago.

I think it was an ok episode but perhaps they were messing around with the lights and shadows too much. The episode contained an extreme emphasis on shadow and light techniques but of course those techniques make it look really nice too.

I missed the first half of Samurai Champloo last week but caught the whole thing this time. Was pretty good all around. I'm liking the three leads, they seem cool.
What I don't entirely like is the OP theme. While the OP sequence reminds me of Bebop's, the hip-hop theme does not draw me in the way Tank! does with Bebop. I know it's not right to compare, being entirely different shows, but I just think it was lacking. Otherwise the music was fine.

Sad ending

, but saw it coming.
Funny, to hear the same VA's for characters, that assassin was voiced by Alfred Thor (Alex Rosewater), as well as Wendee Lee, and others.
I really like the animation for this show, its really "smooth".
While I'm not a fan of the music type.... its starting to grow on me.

Does every anime these days have both Steven Blum and Wendee Lee in it? It always seems like Blum is playing some badass and Lee is some voluptuous chick who has an interest in Blum's character.

Heh. As people in IRC(at least those who paid attention) would know, in my english class we were listening to Romeo and Juliet. Now, before you remember all those crappy memories, know this.
I am 99.9 per cent sure that Michael McConnohie(Schwartzwald) and Wendee Lee(Angel) read it.
I was surprised when Lord Capulet first read and I heard our resident truth-seeker speak out. Then imagine my further shock to hear Juliet voiced by none other than the Director herself. I was almost expecting for Blum to pop up sooner or later, but no avail.

Thanks! I asked Krang if he could make me a Samurai Champloo avatar with Fuu and Mugen in it and he found the perfect shot from ep. 16. Thanks again, Krang!
Yeah, it's a very funny series, in addition to the more serious stuff. It's got a nice balance, I think.

this is the first episode i saw. (i fell asleep last saturday

)
over all it is pretty good. though i was surpirsed that CN actually let in a few things that i thought they would cut out. maybe they are changing! is that a good sign?
that assin dude reminded me so much of Rosewater. At least Rosewater is not gay (or is he?

). My favorite character seems to be the guy who has two or three swords. He seems to act cool in situations, like norman, but instead he uses a katana instead of a big machine gun.

Now that would be funny. Espically if Blum was Romeo and the VA for Gordan was either the monk friend of Romeo's or Montigue himself and Norman's VA was the other. Add Crispin Freeman as Tibult and Lia Sargent as the Juliet's Nurse and we'll have a full set of charactrers.

Another great episode. I really am liking this show. The music is cool, not as amazing as Bebop but who can can come close to Yoko Kanno?

Yep, seems like we got the whole cast of Big O and Bebop working on this show. And thats a very good thing!
