a thread about concerts.

how many have you been to? which was your favorite? who have you seen live? what was the craziest thing that ever happened to you at a concert? anything of that nature, just so long as it pertains to concerts. dig?

I've been to way too many concerts in my life to list them all. But I'll give it a shot (I'll list who I saw, not how many times I've seen them):

-Tub Ring
-Super 8 Bit Brothers
-Another Breath
-Tsunami Bomb
-The Mars Volta
-At The Drive-In
-Sparta
-Incubus
-Mad Capsule Markets
-Fast Eddie
-Warped Tour (a whole bunch o' bands)
-Ozzfest
-Marilyn Manson
-World/Inferno Friendship Society
-Yeah Yeah Yeahs
-Mindless Self Indulgence
-Spacehog
-NOFX
-Nine Inch Nails
-Eels
-Smashing Pumpkins
-the Dresden Dolls
-RHCP
-Ted Leo/RX
-the Dillinger Escape Plan (they roll dice backstage to determine the time signature of each song they play XD)
-An Albatross
-the Dandy Warhols
-the New Pornographers
-Atom & His Package
-Bush

I forgot:
-Dirt Bike Annie
-mc chris Shocked

I'm probobly forgetting a few here and there which is sad Frown

Favorite: Probobly the Mars Volta. I saw them in NYC and John Friscante played with them. It kicked ass.

Craziest thing to ever happen to me at a concert? Recently, I saw a girl at an MSI concert stage dive naked, get dropped on the floor head first (right in front of me, might I add), get hauled away by the cops, somehow come back about 30 minutes later. I've seen a lot of crazy sh** at concerts, but this is the first thing that came to mind.

no doubt
atreyu

i know that's not all of them, but what can you do? i have a bad memory. now keep in mind i didn't see all of these bands because i like their music.....i just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

my favorite was probably the faint. so much energy.....i was exhausted afterwards.

Zopwx2 05-20-2005 05:07 PM
Not a big concert guy, there has to be someone really good for me to go out and see them.

Other than The Mars Volta, I've been to an Eric Clapton concert........

does Wierd Al count?

I've only been to a couple concerts. I saw George Thorogood (the guy who did Bad to the Bone) once, that was really cool. 2 summers ago I saw Motorhead, (sucked, they were so loud that it was just pain, then silence between songs, then pain again) Dio (kicked ass) and Iron Maiden (friggin' awesome.) Lots of rednecks there too. The mullet density was tremendous.

not old enough to see the concerts to the bands i like.
either 16+ or 18+. with 21+ to get drinks.
grrrr. I hate teh Bowery Ballroom.
p.s. the bouncers are EXPERTS at spotting fake ID's. so don't even try it.

I got in easily. Just get a good scanning one from around the Village.

Also, there are some pretty damn good concerts at Irving Plaza, MSG, and Roseland.

Plus, if you want to be with the poser cround, go to CBGB.

This blows! Crying I can't go to concerts 'cause of me bloody age. Bush was in town not to long ago, my mom was going to go but she didn't have the money.
Mike 05-20-2005 10:06 PM
CGBG is the posers now? I thought it was the most hardcore place. Because it's on the Bowery in a bad part of town. And such. Like the Stone Pony.

There are a lot of pop-punk, poser-punk and emo bands playing there these days.

I had a band in high school that played there for a special event (some battle of the bands type of thing), and all the people in the audience were wearing Slipknot and Good Charlotte shirt (you get the picture).

Though I did see Ted Leo there, and it kicked ass.

And I like the town. It's in the area of St. Marks place, which I always hung out on. The people there are...different, but still.

Blur
Semisonic
Gwar
Pixies
Music Midtown (bunch of Bands)
Big Day Out (also a bunch of bands)

That's all that I can think of now. The craziest thing was definately the Gwar concert, just the whole thing was insane.

I recently went to an mc chris concert.

I'm going to a Megadeth/Dream Theater concert this Sunday (for free, too) and, within the next six months or so:

-Ozzfest
-System of a Down
-the Mars Volta (again)
-Nine Inch Nails (yet again)
-Mindless Self Indulgence (this would be the tenth time, I think, and they should be down here in December)
-the Dandy Warhols
-a whole bunch of local shows

Anybody else going to something or have gone to something recently?
dominusofdeath 08-03-2005 11:46 PM

Wait, do you mean Frusciante's part of the band or he just tagged along during that concert? That's does kick ass. The Mar Volta and my favorite guitarist...I envy you beyond anything.

I haven't been to any concerts and that blame mainly rests in my lack of interests in music up until my recent purchase of an electric guitar. My little brother wants to go to the Black Eyed Peas concert that's coming up, but if the option was readily available to me, I'd be the first to buy a ticket to a Red Hot Chili Peppers or Nine Inch Nails concert.

Frusciante showed up at the LA MV show and played with Omar for 1 song. (L'via).
