For the UK/Aus at least:
Ghost In The Shell II: Innocence, will be THE definitive release with Manga teaming up with Madman to produce an English dub with them actively trying to get the Stand Alone Complex cast to record it.

Oh so the Majors voice won't suck like in the dub for the first one. Awesome.

I've only recently heard about Innocence, though I must say it intrigues me.

I must say though, they have cut out half the original cast, with only Batou returning as a main character. The inclusion of the gynoids which were not present in the original also seems a little odd.

Overall, from little info I actually have, I'd say that anyone hoping for a beautiful recreation of a continuation from the original is going to be disappointed,

but not me.

I saw this first GitS movie and liked it, but I heard it just gets more deep and philosophical, I should check it out anyway.

Anyway the Stand Alone Complex cast wasn't that bad..

I think that Tougasa joins him in this one.
Anyway the first few minutes are available for viewing on iFilm.com if anyone is interested. Just enough to get the begining premise across.

The first GitS movie was focused on Motoko as she was doupting her own ghost. This one has Batou in the spotlight. Togusa and Aramaki will also return, and Motoko will make herself known, if you know how to spot her. The CGI is extremely lush. I would've perferred to have seen Batou being assembled in the opening rather than what they had.
A dub would be a welcome touch to this movie. Having to read subtitles, pay attention to action, and reading the text on screen (most of it was english, and some of it was moving), gets a little complex, which is something you don't want then you're trying to comprehend a complex movie.

The movies have little to do with the series. You could watch them both now Beth and not feel too lost.

I saw this movie as part of my class assignment. Togusa plays an important part in this movie, although Batou is the main character.

I saw it subtitled and found some of them really REALLY annoying. I mean, do I really need to know that the sound I hear is a helicopter? Otherwise, I liked the movie.

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence Replacement!
Many people have noticed that on Go Fish Pictures' recent release of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence - the DVD has had a Captions Only track when there should also be an actual Subtitle Track. DVDs with corrected Subtitle/Caption Tracks will indicate the corrections on the DVD top-spine sticker with a printed "v4".

Go Fish has decided to issue replacements to everyone who has purchased the DVD and received a copy that is missing the subtitle track. In order to claim your replacement, please see this form. The form does not mention a cut-off date, but as always, the sooner the better.

I sent mine in and got a replacement in about two weeks. Haven't played it yet, but I see no reason not to do it.

Good thing to hear that they are trying to get the SAC cast to dub it. I liked that cast. I haven't seen the movie yet. But I've seen the first movie (didn't like the Major's English VA either) and SAC so I've been interested in seeing it.

Do they still show Ghost in the Shell in US??? I haven't seen it in like 4 months!

if I'm not mistaken, it has a UK dub i.e like alot of old manga titles, and frankly very few U.K dubs are all that good, although I could be wrong as I haven't been really folloing this news.

Around here the first Ghost in the Shell is an 18, so no touchie for me. The Stand Alone Complex series is a 15, but I haven't had time to buy it yet. However, this does confirm that there is an English release

Meh you can find the GitS movie somehwere, not sense in waiting till your 18 by that time the movie won't even retain any of the impact it still has left. Plus its mostly becuase of booby shot here or there.

I'm still trying to get a hold of the 2nd movie.

BTW: when does 2nd gig startup on AS?

What?

If your talking about GiTS the movie, then it has a US dub. If your talking about the dub they are working on for GiTS2, then it will be a US dub.

Oh and dont tar alll UK dubs with this not good brush. If you can, get the UK release of Millinium Actress. It has a brillently done UK dub.

And Lyinginbedmon, if your from the uk then GiTs is rated a 15. Just like some of the TV series (TV series age rating seems to vary from 12 to 15.)
Lyinginbedmon 10-03-2005 09:58 AM
No, I'm quite positive that Ghost in the Shell is an 18, mainly because I've actually seen a copy of it in HMV

Um....this is really only for the second movie, here's the the SAC thread... ....But anways...to answser the question, they still have it, it's just the 2nd gig isn't going to be on TV until like November if they don't change it. No word on another replay of the first season though....I don't think they'll play the movies on AS.....

But back to topic...I'm actualy curious as to what the Millennium Actress dub sounds like. I mean I liked the movie, but it would be interesting to check out...Same thing with GitS...since they're using the SAC cast and all...

According to the manga, Batou is not a full cyborg like Motoko, and in fact has some of his original body parts. (I can take some crappy pictures if you need proof.)
Lyinginbedmon 10-03-2005 04:52 PM
It's true, I think the only parts of him that are mechanical are his eyes and arms.

However, in Innocence, it is stated that the only part of him that is still biological are trace amounts of his brain
anjuta 10-03-2005 10:36 PM
So, is GiTS still on air in U.S. or what? If yes, then what channel? Anyone?
