Welcome to Road to Nagasaki, a new forum section dedicated to Samurai Champloo discussion. Now before anyone starts complaining, I just wanted to mention that the only anime shows that will get their own forum sections are ones that, in the opinions of the administrators, are both outstanding shows and shows that would also appeal to the majority of the existing members of these forums. As of now, Shredder and I can only agree on three shows that fit that description (two of which now have sections), so you won't need to worry about new forums popping up every few weeks. As those of you who already saw the first episode know, Samurai Champloo airs on Adult Swim every Saturday at 10:30PM Central (11:30PM Eastern). And in case anyone missed the first episode, the episodes are re-aired on Thursday nights at 11:30PM Central (Friday mornings at 12:30AM Eastern).

For those of you new to Samurai Champloo, you may be wondering what it is about. Here's a quick overview from ANN:

quote:
Mugen is a fierce animal-like warrior with a unique Bboying (break-dance) inspired fighting style. Jin has a more traditional style but don’t think of this as a weakness because his skills are amazing. The two contrasting samurai warriors are far from friends, yet their separate paths seem to cross anyways. Mugen is wandering aimlessly through the city when he stumbles upon a teahouse where he meets Jin and Fuu (A ditzy waitress, but don‘t think she doesn‘t have anything hidden up her sleeves). Fuu convinces them both to come with her in search of a mysterious samurai that smells like sunflowers and their journey begins. This modernized hip-hop tale breaks the barriers of the common, historical, samurai anime.

You can find more information (and multimedia) at the official English site here. As with FMA, Shredder and I have seen the whole series and highly recommend it due to its great characters and excellent blend of comedy and action, so if you haven't started watching it yet, you should definitely give this show a chance. We will be starting weekly threads for each new episode, so please stop by and share your thoughts and opinions.
