Reefer Madness

I watched this film on TV today. It came out in 1938, and I thought it was hilarious! It's even more hilarious, because people took it seriously back then! I haven't seen the recent remake of it though. Funny stuff.

Isn't that the movie that was like a warning against smoking pot? If that is the case, its pretty amusing. People start going insane (explaining the Reefer madness thing). I'm at least 90% sure that at least one of the smokers dies from it as well. Its really a propaganda film to prevent kids of the 30s from getting involved in that kind of stuff. In a way it reminds me of Peter's song about licking Toads on Family Guy. Its especially amusing, because pot doesn't generally have effects anything like those shown in the movie (bear in mind, I've never smoked pot, or done any drugs, I'm just speaking from what I've heard).

From what I've seen, just previews on Showtime, the remake is going to be hilarious. I'm hoping a friend can snag it for me....( no I don't get Showtime!).

I'm looking forward to seeing Alan Cumming in action. He's really funny and highly underrated.

Oh, Gods, this film made my head hurt. There are two things I regretted about while watching this film - 1. that I watched it, and 2. that Joel and the Bots weren't making fun of it on MST3K.

"Don't smoke pot because THIS is how people think you act! You don't want them to think that, do you??"

The film shows how kids use pot and the crazy things that happen to them. It was pretty much a propaganda film about how marijuana is bad.

Gobbledy gook, I say!

hahaha, just watch the "marijuana kills" 'ad' in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.
Reefer Madness, isn't that a Led Zepplin song?

Zeppelin never made such a song

If I'm not mistaking, the opening to the Sublime song "Smoke Two Joints" is from the movie Reefer Madness, is it not?

Well, I just saw the musical remake, and it was pretty funny. Very dark twisted humor, but thats the kind I like I suppose. Alan Cumming was very good in his role as the man who made the film. The music was also very good. The last few songs were awesome, especially the closing. Now I understand why my friend wouldn't shut up about the movie all week. Very good film, I reccomend it.

Best Line from the film:
Alan Cumming:"Mr. Herst went to college at Harvard. Where did you metriculate?"
Towns Person:"....."
A.C.: " ME-TRI-CU-LATE"
T.P.: ".... uhhh"
A.C.: "....It means go to college."

Hehehehe, I love this film. Way over the top propaganda.
