'Rirry Ronka'. I just about fell out of my chair at that one.

'Pure Imagination' is the '71 version's single redeemable quality. It's absolutely beautiful.

Sorry for double posting, but it has been a few days now.

Just thought I'd show you guys this. So, we know that initially Gene Wilder hated the mere idea of Burton's 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. He was particularly piqued over the choice of Johnny Depp to play the new Willy Wonka.

But it seems that after actually watching the movie Wilder changed his mind. This hasn't been highly publicized however. You know the media; quick to print when celebrities start spitting fire at each other; totally uninterested when spats are kindly resolved.

Wilder retracts Depp Criticism

Wilder retracts Depp criticism

06/07/2005 - 16:13:46

Movie funnyman Gene Wilder has hailed Johnny Depp as a "magical" choice to play Willy Wonka in upcoming film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - weeks after attacking Depp's casting in the movie remake.

Wilder, who played Wonka in the original 1971 film, recently accused director Tim Burton of remaking the Roald Dahl fantasy for "pointless" financial gain.

And despite complaining Depp would not be able to improve upon his portrayal of Wonka, Wilder has now declared Depp is the perfect choice for the film.

He says: "If I were going to cast the movie, I would cast Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka because I think he is wonderful. Mysterious - always - and magical."

I would like to say one thing in this post really.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIM BURTON!

47 Years and hopefully still going strong. May we see more of your work.

Wonka vs. the Great Glass Elevator

LooneyLucifer has the most beautiful 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' fanart. Seems to be pro Charlie/Wonka in that way that creeps me out a bit but s/he draws Depp Wonka so pretty I honestly don't care.

Others who have nice 'Charlie' fanart:

Andreala-Rae

Loi Maga

Mewsagi

Wonka Lovers

We must find ways to distract ourselves until the DVD comes out. Or at least I do. Johnny Depp movies are helping but they honestly don't scratch the Wonka-itch.

Hehe. I love that first one...but as I scroll down the list of LL's wonkas I get creeped out.

All good stuff.

However, if I see another anime Wonka( or Wonka/Charlie), it's gonna be Hiroshima all over again.

CAUSE ITS SICK.

I'm not too found of the Charlie/Wonka stuff either. Very creepy. And not in that good way either. No, this is a totally bad kind up, down, and all over.

But the elevator pic's quite nice. Big Grin

::checks watch::

Why isn't it November yet? ;_;

DVD details (and an offical release date) have been announced!

No audio commentary unfortunately but the featurettes should be fun and the mini-games! ::plans to play the crap of her future DVD::

I was hoping they'd have a sing-a-long special feature for the songs. It would have been so evil and funny. I'd be watching 'Charlie' on a plane and I'd just have to sing a long with a violet-blueberry ball "Willy Wonka! Willy Wonka! The amazing Chocolatier!" Ah, who am I kidding, I'll probably end up singing along with the songs very loudly even without a macabre ball counting off syllables.

Amazon.com put 'Charlie' up for preorder earlier this week. Right now it's at #114 in DVD sales (yay).

Amazon also has the two disc set available but they've yet to put up pictures or transfer over the reviews from the movie showtimes page.

56 days until the 'Charlie' comes out. ^_^

Oh, and unless you couldn't tell. 'Charlie' is my favorite movie. I have to say I never expected to enjoy this movie as much as I have when I saw it, literally on a whim, a few months ago. But there you are.

Okay, it's finally back. The Deluxe edition disappeared from amazon for about two weeks but now it's back and, more important and the point of this post, it's a about a dollar and a half cheaper than it was.

If you've already ordered it you can cancel it (through 'Your Account') and order it again. Hey, a buck fifty is a buck fifty.

What a wonderful movie! It was wonderful the first time, it's wonderful the fifth time (even if two of the inbetween are on the same day). I was worried that, having listened to the soundtrack on end for the last four months would have taken the edge off the movie but I feel just as happy and (this is a weird one for me) warm and fuzzy inside watching it after all these months. And Danny Elfman's music holds an even greater emotional impact having let the cd soak in my skin.

Lovely lovely lovely lovely lovely stuff. ::happy sigh::
