System of a Down

I love how much this album cover doesn't suck and doesn't look like a retarded Lance Armstrong with a radiator on his chest. Oh wait. Neutral

quote:
Hey system of a down...which one of you was the father of the atomic bomb again? The drummer?

OH WAIT NO, IT WASN'T YOU IT WAS A MAN WHO SMOKED BOTH UNFILTERED CIGARETTES AND A PIPE.

Unless by smoking you meant...you know, the ganja. Then I suppose you have a point. Except even then...Bob Marley, and I'm none too fond of drugs but even I have to admit no, you couldn't be more wrong.

...What?

I... dislike this band. Something about their weird chords and strange tempos is sort of a turn-off for me musically... Its like Vaclav Nelhybel, but rock instead of weird ass classical music...

... God I hate Nelhybel...

Ok. Yeah. Nobody should buy this album. If you're so interested in it, ask me.

I wasn't interested but I found out anyway that it was an incredibly meh album.

I really like their music. They may not be "deep", but they speak their minds.

Yes yes, but the new album, in terms of music (screw lyrics, since I've never taken any rock star seriously), the new album truly sucks.

The only song I really care for is U-Fig

I've only given the CD two listens so far (and by listen I mean do other stuff while it plays in the background), and right now Holy Mountains, U-Fig and Vicinity of Obscenity are the only two I've found memorable. Holy Mountains is the obligatory Aeriels/Question of Hypnotize it would seem, but actually, I'd say it's better than either. U-Fig reminded me a lot of the Self-Titled album, which is of course good. Vicinity is just one of those fast crazy songs in the vein of Psycho (only for speed really, Psycho is much better IMO) and Violent Pornography. Retarded lyrics of course, and I have a feeling it'll get old fast like Violent Pornography.
I'll have to give it a few more listens but right now I'm inclined to rate it about a 5/10.
Also, I agree with Gonzo. They definitely should have just released the two CDs at the same time, together for the price of a regular CD. Also, they should have never let Daron take over vocals. Daron can't sing.

i actually started listening to all of the songs (for once) and it is a decent cd. kill rock n roll, however... i have a live version of the song and that made me want this cd. KILL ROCK N ROLL ON HYPNOTIZE SOUNDS LIKE DARON IS A LITTLE FUSSY GIRL!!! the parts where he isn't talking about how he killed rock n roll are decent. otherwise... but anyways... it was pretty good. not as good as mezmerize, steal this album!, system of a down, or toxicity but makes a good stab at it. i love the outro Soldier Side. it really sounds like it closes what the intro Soldier Side started. Also it starts with Soldier side, ends with soldier side: "welcome to the soldier side, where there's no one here but me. people all grow up to die. there is no one here but me."
overall, i would give it an 8/10
Song ratings
Attack-9/10
Dreaming-8/10
Kill Rock N' Roll-6/10Sweatdrop
Hypnotize-9.5/10
Stealing Society-8/10
Tentative-8.5/10
U-Fig-9/10
Holy Mountains-10/10
Vicinity of Obscenity-8/10Neutral
She's Like Heroine-8/10Neutral once again
Lonely Day-9/10
Soldier Side (Outro)-10/10
If you are a System fan, buy this album. If not, get another System album first. This is the worst one, but not a bad one.

I like System of a Down alright. I haven't listened to many of their songs, but I think it's pretty good from what I have heard. I find it loud enough to bug my parents. Embarrassed Sweatdrop just kidding. But seriously, the music's pretty good.

I still prefer Mudvayne.

Toxicity and Metro are their best songs IMO.

An overrated but decent band.

saw them live twice, one of the best bands ever.

Old stuff is better. Lost them in the new releases.
