Falling Down

So did anyone here ever see "Falling Down"? Michael Douglas plays this REALLY crazy guy who gets stuck in a traffic jam, and he just loses it and gets out of his car and decides to walk home through L.A., and along the way, he has to take sh*t from a store clerk, gang members, a register jockey and a manager at a burger joint, and other characters. He is fed up with the flaws in society, and he just goes nuts, just because he wants to get home for his daughter's birthday party. Interesting film.

Yes, I've seen "Falling Down." It features great performances by Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall as two men unappreciated by society and their colleagues.

Douglas' character is a government employee whose frustrations finally get the better of him while he's stuck in traffic and he proceeds to march back home. Along the way he runs into every aspect of society that irates him: street gangs, panhandlers, thieving store owners, rude fast food clerks, and privileged businessmen. Most of these encounters end in violence, but the disturbing thing is that Douglas has a point with his rantings, and we've all wanted to strike back at those in society who've insulted or abused us.

Duvall's character is a retiring police officer who's spent the last couple of years behind a desk. Duvall gets no respect from his colleagues and when Duvall pieces together Douglas' trail of violence, he hits the streets to find and arrest Douglas before he gets home, but things don't work out as Duvall hoped.

It's a great movie. Directed by everyone's favorite whipping boy, Joel Schumacher.

Yeah...I enjoyed Falling Down as well. Not a bad movie, definitely has a certain reality to it. Makes you think a little as well...Good stuff...check it out...

Remember though...there's more to Douglas' character than just being a disgruntled worker. His personal life and family life take a huge toll on him...aside from his job. Lets just say Douglas' character is a little mentally irregular...
