Worst/Most Boring Book You've Ever Read

I haven't read this but I just looked it up and read an analysis of it. Yeah, I can see how someone would hate it. Just from the summary I read, it sounds like over the top bull and is trying too damn hard to get you to look at only one aspect of a certain issue, this being racism and hatred of one-self in the 1940's toward African Americans.

Look I understand where she's going with the issue, I'm black myself, but really pounding the issue and presenting it over and over again in settings such as this isn't going to help anyone. Again, I haven't read the book and I just wanted to comment on it since what SEELE posted interested me. So yeah.

A) Lights the curtains in his house on fire for some reason along the lines of "FIRE LOOKED NEAT I WANTED TO SEE MORE!". Okay kids are stupid or you're just a pyromaniac. I'll sort of give this a pass.

B) At one point he kills a kitten because his dad just passingly goes "that things annoying, frankly it'd be nice if it died, go shoe it away it's pissing me off." He later rationalizes this somehow with something about how he hated his dad or....yeah. Point is. Congradulations, you now exhibit one of the warning signs for becoming a serial killer!

I looked it up on wikipedia, apparently he never did become a serial killer (or if he did he left it out of his writings and nobody ever found out...just saying, stranger things have occured). I noticed this though

Yeah, but if we’re actually talking about REAL literature, I would have to say that my worst were two books of poetry by Eilean Ni Chuilleanain: the Brazen Serpent and the Magdalene Sermon. I personally find her dull and hackneyed, and although her imagery and alliteration are decent, she has no direction and gets lost in a haze of over-beaten metaphors – assuming she has a valid point to communicate.

Of course, as is always the case, that’s just my impression.

"The Sound and the Fury" by William Faulkner. I know Faulkner is one of the literary greats, but damn I hated this book. From what I can remember, there are four loosely tied stories and one of the stories is told through the mind of a mentally challenged boy (a.k.a. there is NO grammar, periods, sentences, capitalization, or anything). God I hated this book.

Nobody really disagreed...one guy sort of did but his gimmick was liberal guilt fueled ravings constantly, leading up to "lets read the jungle so I can monopolize discussions by getting up on my soapbox".

I actually would have had no problem with the jungle, except quite frankly...the year was almost overand I'd pretty much hit my limit as far as this guy pontificating endlessly, in every class I had with him, if given any opening. So we wound up reading the great gatsby instead, I like to think that period was like his own private hell.

What, people who go "ah, so he hates gatsby", then nod towards the rest of the class so they all unanimously go "YES. YES LETS READ GATSBY"

Since...yeah thats what happened. I mean also it was a wonderful novel.

i don`t like anything by nora roberts. her love scenes were loveless, the plot was just disturbing, and she loves mary sues and gary lous.

Grapes of Wrath was one of the lamest, most boring books I ever read. But I think it's because I had a week to read ten chapters. D: I might of liked it if I had just read the idea chapters...

That or this one book I had to read for English I-H. I forget the name of it...crap.
