What would be the GREATEST HORROR MOVIE EVAR MADE?

I just saw Ju-On, which is the original version of The Grudge. Although the some of the scares were pretty cool (I hadn't seen the US version) I over-all thought it was "good".

But anyway, I was wondering. In your opinion, what is the scariest movie ever?

"House on Haunted Hill" from the 1930's. Properly atmospheric, creepy, and the implied horror was scarier than any gore that could be shown.

William Friedkin's The Exorcist is up there I suppose.

Granted, I never watch a film to get scared by something (it's just a film overall and I never put himself to have emotional ties to any movie anyway), but The Exorcist is one horror film that actually kept him interested with the acting, writing and overall direction.
Peace.

True it is a good movie (Devil's Rejects was better) it just seems to me to be too much like one of the Texas Chiansaw Massacres.

1982 The Thing.

This is not an horror movie, but a fantastic one. However the scenes I saw the first time in my life hurt me. I was young.

Cap'N with the correct answer, on both accounts.

And Pinhead was alright as well. Somethin's wrong with your post there, Holleh...
Peace.

The Shining...

more thriller, but scary enough.
