Well, since no one else has mentioned this, I'm going to give everyone who enjoyed the film some good news. Frank Miller plans on making a film for every one of the Sin City comics. So that means more of Dwight, Marv, and the other denizens of Sin City.

I'm glad that Sin City was a box office hit (it's creators took a big risk and deserve applause), but I'm not interested in a sequel. Besides, weren't the later books in the series lackluster?

Not really. I find them as interesting if not more than some of the stories that were in the movie, so I can't wait.

Id go see a sequel...I still need to actually pick up the Sin City series books. I know they've rereleased them in hardcover to go along with the movie...

Ive seen them before...now Id actually like to read them.

Yeah...more Sin City would be great...

Certainly not. Actually, That Yellow B****** is one of the later books. The first few works included The Hard Goodbye, A Dame To Kill For, and Family Values. All of the comics retain the same feel, and are equally great. Besides, lack luster work by Frank Miller is still some of the best you will ever find. He is undoubtedly one of the greatest comic writers of our time. He wrote The Dark Knight Returns people! Compared to that, everything is fairly lack luster.

And also, the sequels were in the works before the movie was a success. So its not being hurriedly shoved together to make an extra buck.

The Yellow Bastard was book 4. I've never heard of Family values. The Big Kill is number 3... But they're not all the same. A dame to kill for (I think thats the one I mean... It has pre-operation Dwight) is a fairly different style from the rest (Which is why it wasn't in the movie, I guess). Its more about a story than random bashing and not as dark. Marv is in that too, but its from before he finds his purpose, so he's pretty much just an angry, drunken bar fighter.

IIRC, Family Values is number 6 or 7. Probably 7, since I'm fairly sure Booze, Broads, and Bullets was no. 6.

Right you are. After looking back, I have found that it was #7. My problem was, that the bookstore I buy them at only carries three, so I always think of them as the first ones. However, that should simply go to prove my point. It is very good, so we can all see that they did not become lackluster.

I picked up the DVD.

I got a free copy of the first issue of "A Dame to Kill For", which is a story that the second movie feature.

I just watched the movie with a couple of friends. The DVD extras are the following:

-Electronic Press Kit
-Subtitles
-Animated Menus

That's it. Funny, right?

There's supposedly a special edition coming out later on in the year, with an assload of extended scenes. But this will do for now.

Picked it up today. Gonna watch it later this week. Possibly Saturday, liked the movie when it first came out. So no doubt I'll like the DVD. Marv kicks ass.

Too bad. I was really hoping for a "Marv Cam" mode where you see life as Marv would in first person. Its a whole movie of watching fists punch tiny men.
Almasy 08-17-2005 09:47 PM
my friend told me not to get the DVD that came out recently since a fancy special edition DVD is on its way...or something like that.
Travis Bickle 08-17-2005 09:53 PM
I just finished reading "A Dame to Kill For".

If Robert Rodriguez does what he did with the first film with the next, which is make it a translation instead of an adaptation, then Sin City 2 will be amazing.

And yeah, special edition. Christmas. Woo hoo.
Sharpshooter005 08-18-2005 12:30 AM
So I'm still not sure how I managed to not see this movie until about an hour ago. I mean really, it's obviously something I should have seen four times when it was in theaters.

More of mute ninja girl, please and thank you.

I think Sin City's CG backgrounds look really good! ^__^

This may explain why I didn't see it, I was really skeptical it would wind up working. I remember one scene in the trailer they kept showing on t.v....I think it was from the big fat kill
spoiler (highlight to read):
where the girls are all on the roof spraying the alleyway with gunfire.
And maybe it was the way they cut it for the trailer...it just seemed to look stupid.

Whereas in the movie it really didn't.

She's in the sequel a ton more. She wears rollerblades, but she kicks ass.
StevieV019 08-18-2005 07:32 AM
Miho is the bomb diggety, yo! I cant say enough about her...she's pure sex...

I hope she shows up a bunch more in the sequel. She's the perfect woman: hot, sexy, uses swords, and knows when to shut up...what more could you ask for??

(Cant wait to hear the replies on that one... :sweatdropSmile
Gato Gurl914 08-18-2005 01:25 PM
they're making a sequel? awesome!

So basically, she goes from being a ninja. To being a ninja that can also travel at great velocities, with a sword, and shuriken.

Theres absolutely no possible way this movie can go wrong.
Patsai 08-28-2005 11:26 PM
The first time I saw this movie, I fell asleep. For some strange reason, the second time was a blast.

#%@#%@&!*#%!!!! I knew I should have waited! Oh, well. Maybe I can use my copy for credit at EB or Gamestop.

Just one question that's been on my mind: it's about the music they used for the trailers and commercials. Who does it and what's the song called? It's got a catchy riff to me. I believe they also play it in the menu of the DVD.

Its called "Cells" by a group called The Servant. I heard it's not on the soundtrack though. It was also played in Transporter 2 (Which was so bad it was actually good in the B-movie way)
