Anyone hear of and/or can't wait and/or will kill to see the new Willy Wonka film by Tim Burton? It stars Johnny Depp, and a few other people... But mostly Johnny Depp (I say this because he looks like a great Willy Wonka)
Behold the trailer!
The teaser makes me want to see it all the more...

I heard about it and saw some pics on the net a while back.
I saw the trailer earlier today. (along with the leaked 2nd batman trailer and speilberg's war of the worlds)
I really unsure, I actually heard that this movie is LESS dark than the previous one..
I really hope I don't watch this movie only to find myself seeing the first film with better special effects and wondering where gene wilder is.
Becuase Depp is awesome but I'm not getting a good vibe from his Woka. I want more crazy hair and gotees.

I can't wait for this movie! Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors, and Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors. In fact, I was just talking about this movie with a guy in my acting class while reading Tim Burton's new book "The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories" (which is awesome by the way). From what I've heard, Burton has made the film much darker and a little bit creepy. Regardless, I think it will be awesome, and I can't wait until it comes out next July.

I forget where, but I actually heard that one of the writers of this movie never watched the original. When he was finished, he watched the original, and was shocked at how darker it was.
I mean, the part when they were in the tunnel and Gene Wilder is singing about dieing is pretty dark.
Even if it is not as good as the original one, I think I will still enjoy it.

Anybody else see the boatride as being stretched out for several more minutes?
*sees sea of hands*
Ye-yeah.
When the writer said he never saw the original movie, I hope that meant he actually READ the whole book and not the Cliff Notes version of the book.
I'm actually looking forward to it - I've often thought that Mr. Burton's direction would work beautifully with Roald Dahl's work.

I had only heard about this movie because I was looking up info on Danny Elfman, who is doing the music. Tim Burton and Danny Elfman working on a movie together...imagine that[/sarcasm]
I just watched that trailer...interesting
I'm looking forward to this. I love Roald Dahl books and Willy Wonka was one of my favorites.
Longer boat ride? Yeah!!!!

Woohoo! I loved the first movie, and yes Johnny Depp makes a great Mr. Wonka. Because he's sexy.
And 2005 isnt too far off!

When I first heard that Johnny Depp was gonna be Wonka, I thought "how weird" and felt a little unsure about it. Then I thought "wait, this is Johnny Depp. He can pretty much do any role and get away with it." so i let it slide. however, from what i see on the trailer, i am a bit skeptical. But i do love tim burton's work so i might see it. I liked the first one too, so i'm hoping it'll be good.

After seeing that trailer, it makes me think:
Does anyone remember when Marilyn Manson said he was going to play Willy Wonka? Well, from what I saw in that trailer, it looked like he would too get the job done well. However, that's just my opinion.

Ever since I first saw the poster, I've stopped caring about the movie. Now, all I want to see is Johnny Depp!

Oy.

JOHNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *melts*
Hm...that preview was WAY TOO SHORT! I need more to make a good judgement about the movie. I don't know...all I know is that I'm going to see it because it has Johnny Depp, Tim Burton and Danny Elfman. Great cobo of people working together (when they do, I'm a happy girl).
Plus...it has Johnny Depp and he's so SEXY.
Though that song is going to have me running around "Chewing gum is very gross and chewing gum annoys me most" or something like that. And I'll be singing "Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka something rother cheer"
I still like the Gene Wilder one. Must rent that over break...
Oh, let me annoy you again: Johnny Depp!!!!!!

(There's where half the people's money will come from).
Later,

PS: Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy: I'm worried, Disney is doing it...(BUT John Malkovich will be in it

.)
Can i just make a point? This new film is called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and it will be more accurate to the book.

When I saw photos, I had a feeling this movie was going to weird. I have a feeling that this will quite dark, although not as explicitly dark as the old version.

At one point in that scene, a chicken is decapitated. I think I'm going to pull out the movie just for that scene :-P.

The trailer looks interesting, and I like Tim Burton's stuff, so I'll probably go see it.

As much as I dig Tim Burton's movie making abilities, I have my doubts about this. It is really hard to match the original in any movie (look what he did to Planet of the Apes).
I really digged the original. I named my car after a main character, Veruca Salt!

I agree with Tony. I LOVE the original movie and I'm kinda disappointed they're doing a remake.

I hope it'll be as good as the original in the end, but I just don't know...
The first one was considered "dark"? It had "dark" elements, but I think it was mainly a story about a boy who came from a dark, sad existance but, by remaining honest and true to his nature, was able to pull himself and his family out of that darkness and into a better life.
