I've been wondering if this could be applied to a myspace page.

I'm sure it would take some tweaking, but if it's doable, then I'd love to have the correct coding.

Ok... I had the bright idea of trying a Ctrl+Alt+Delete when the Wireless Configuration error came up on my mother's computer... found the process, uninstalled that program, and suddenly everything's perfect.

I reinstalled WinDVD and DVDs play again. So both of those problems are out of the way.

I got a new cell phone recently, and it had a USB port on it, so I got drivers and such and got it to work on my computer. Now I want to hook it up, instead of from the front of my computer, in the back, but when I attach it there, all the driver installation things come up again. It took forever to perfect the combination of 4 drivers to make it work before and I don't want to go through it again. Is there a way to copy it from one USB to another? Or is my computer just messed up and it's supposed to work on all of them.

Sorry, I know very little about any kind of online journals, so I'm not familiar with the limitations on the HTML that you can use there. Hopefully someone who has a Myspace account can help.

When you install certain USB devices (i.e., ones without a USB serial number), the detection is tied to the port that you initially plug them into, so it is normal to be prompted again when you change ports. You could point the driver installation process to the drivers that are already on your hard drive, but it would be easier to just continue using the port in the front.

Got that while searching through myspace. Now I googled it and found this, and saw that Macromedia had released a patch. But I'm not sure which to download, or if it will actually do anything as I tried "Macromedia Patch MPSB02-05_Windows.zip" but that didn't seem to do anything.

This is a just a bit of a problem, as I need to access the rest of the search results.

Actually, that patch is for the server software, so you won't be able to use it. According to the Symantec report, it sounds like the URL is too long, so the server is detecting that as an attack (even though it shouldn't). What is the URL that appears in the location bar when you receive this error?

Page 16 of the search results for "ReBoot". I also tried searching for "Venture", just to see if it'd stop at that page, but it kept going.

It sems to be a bug in Norton Personal Firewall, since that URL shouldn't be mistaken for that type of attack. I found a site that listed a similar problem, and here is the workaround that was used:

I need to a similar host http://www.myfilehut.com, but with more bandwidth. While MFH has 10GB, I currently have a 6mb flash file(this is as small as I can make it, while keeping it looking good) on a myspace page, sooo I think within two weeks or less, depending on how many people visit the site, I'll have used up the bandwidth.

Bandwidth is expensive, so unfortunately, you're probably not going to find more than that for free. If there is a host like that, it isn't going to last long. It would probably be better to get some cheap paid hosting or to see if you can simplify the flash a little more (or use a different format).

Don't want to sound dumb here or anything, but I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a little computer troubles. The problem is when I log in nothing shows up. I can still run programs and the internet, but no desktop. Any tips would be appreciated.

Second:
Try opening the task manager, File, New Task, and then type in Explorer. This is based on the idea you're running Windows, if you're running OSX or whatever... no idea.

Now click "Fix checked" and exit HijackThis, but don't reboot yet. While you're still in safe mode, open Windows Explorer under Start Menu > Accessories and select Folder Options from the Tools menu. On the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected and that "Hide protected operating system files" is not checked. Apply the changes if necessary. Now delete the following file:

Now restart your computer again and run HijackThis again to make sure those entries are gone.

Um.. random, but, what is HijackThis? Many people seem to use it to figure out problems they have, and I'm wondering what it is, does, and if I should get it.

Sorta Random, Sorta Dark Ages Technology question:

My mom has a computer. It's got a modem. The modem is known to the computer and can dial out to the internet. The only issue is, after "connecting," the modem isn't really connected to the internet. We open Netscape and Explorer (just to double check) and it says "Cannot find Yahoo.com." The phone is busy (we tested that). I think there is an IP (been a while since we've touched the computer), but when I pinged for say "Yahoo.com" it told me "cannot find Yahoo." Basically, the modem can send out to reach the provider, but cannot receive.

I have checked our provider's homepage for an answer to this question, but have found nothing and am avoiding calling them if possible. Our computer guy doesn't know what it is as he has not worked on modems for a long time, but discovered that our Ethernet card didn't really reach out either.

Basically, my question is, should I attempt to uninstall and reinstall the modem because that's the last option I can think of aside from calling our provider? I've deleted and recreated our connection on the computer multiple times, but that hasn't changed the results. This computer was recently rebuilt with parts of my old computer and her old computer and it's still a Windows 98 (she can't afford to upgrade).

Obviously we have internet (because my computer has a modem) and I can be connected, but I want to set her up so she has access when I'm at college. (Having both computers accessing the internet has never been a problem before).

HijackThis is a program that will detect any hijacks, and have the option to remove them. However, unless you know what you are doing, you shouldn't attempt to remove anything. Instead, it has the option to save the list as a log file, and if you give the log to someone who is experienced at reading the log files, they'll tell you what to remove. It's useful when other spyware programs fail to fix these problems.
