Did you use FTP to upload the file? If so, be sure that you are using binary mode (rather than ASCII mode) to upload the file. If you uploaded the file through the browser, it could have been a temporary problem on Geocities' side. Try uploading it again, and be sure that it has the correct file extension (".png" in this case). If it still doesn't work, try another browser.

My guess is geocities didn't like the picture....because I uploaded it to another directory and it still gave me the problem. But yet, when I took the same picture, saved it as a .gif, and then uploaded it through the browser (can't find any free FTP uploaders -_-; ...), it worked. This is strange because most of the pictures I use for the sites that are hosted on geocities are .pngs Oh Well .

LeechFTP is a solid, free FTP program. At least, it worked for me when transferring files to and from my school. The tech guy at my school recommended it.

i have somethings about my computer that are well..inconviences. i don't know if there is a way around them, or if i should just deal w/it.

is there a way i can put an icon in my quick launch or my system tray that works like a program group? like, if i click on it, a menu comes up? i have some shortcuts in my Quick Launch to folders for access to games and Messenger programs and such, but, it'd be even easier if w/a click, a menu came up instead of an explorer window. is there a way to do this?

also, i used to use StyleXP...but then it expired. does anyone know of a version of StyleXP (or another program that can modify Windows Visual Themes in a similar way) that is free and won't expire or anything like that?

Yes, there is a way to do this. Go to your Quick Launch directory (should be (Your Profile Directory)\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch, although I can't say for sure since I don't have XP available right now), create a folder, and add some shortcuts to it, and it will appear as a menu in your Quick Launch area. The only catch is that it will only work as a menu if it is not one of the main three or four icons in the taskbar (i.e., it needs to be in the menu that pops up when you click on the two small arrows to the right of the main icons).

that works well, thanx! now i just need a free Visual Theme program. Big Grin

EDIT: Just got WindowBlinds, works great, so never mind about the theme program.

Okay I got in...good...Now to exsplain the previous post.

That showed up on my desktop with the name hs_err_pid3804.log. This was after I played a game called Cubis on Yahoo. What I want to know why was it there and is it anything bad, or can I just delete the log file without fixing anything or what? Because that's the first time I've ever gotten something like that.

Oh and If anyones wondering why I posted the full log file in the post is because I don't have anymore room for attachments....So sorry about that ^^; .....

It looks like it was just a Java-related error in the game, so the log can be safely deleted. If it happens every time you play that game, try updating your Java VM: http://www.java.com/

I downloaded a Nintendo Metroid Prime visual theme, along with WindowBlinds, and used them together, to change my wallpaper, sounds, taskbar, icons, and other aspects of things. today i went to change it back. everything can turn back to normal just fine, except the icons.
i tried TweakUI's icon rebuilder, but that just messes with the asortment of icons on my desktop. so, other than going from one file type to the next, is there a quick way to reset my icons to the set i had before i had the theme change them?

If the theme changed the filetype icons, then unfortunately, they will need to be reset one at a time. If it only changed the icons for My Computer, Recycle Bin, etc., then yes, there is an easy way to change these back (I'm pretty sure it's under the Display Properties, although I don't have an XP installation available right now to double-check).

OK. Bought a new webcam, and it included a small mic, one of those you clip on your shirt, right.

Install the software, the webcam works, YEAH! Everyone on my BL's are happy!

Plug the mic in to the "insert mic here" port...and I know it's the right one, and I cant plug it in anymore.

Dont work.

So I go to the sound and audio properties in the control panel to set it as default, and there's something called C-Media Wave device.
Those are my speakers, friggin windows! And yes, I was in the voice tab. That's the only drop-down option, and it dont like me.

So I go to Yahoo, run the call set-up thingy, and it lists the same mic, but I'm still not getting any sound. Tim couldn't hear it on AIM, YIM, or MSN. Couldn't get it on Sound recorder. And it's not just Tim, cause I got Mirokulover to give it a go, and she couldn't hear it either.

Friggin' mic. This is the second one this week. Seriously...

So...how can I make this work? I need to do narrations for my senior project by the 20th.... *begs* I present on the 22nd.

I'm not sure if that's entirely true. I think IconPackager from the same maker as Windowblinds does it in a click.

Try checking the volume settings. Go to Control Panel > Multimedia, and under Recording, click the microphone icon (the location may not be 100% correct since I'm going by Windows 98 instead of XP, but I'll double-check this with XP tomorrow when I finally receive the part I need to fix my computer). Correction for XP: Go to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices, and on the Audio tab, click the Volume button under Sound recording.

From there, move the slider for Microphone up, and check the "Select" box under Microphone if it's not already checked.

Could be. I never use those theme managers, so I'm not sure what they can or can't do. I was just referring to the abilities of Windows itself.

If it is a standard (non-optical) mouse, it may need cleaning. Open the panel on the bottom and clean the rollers, and see if it helps. If not, it may need to be replaced.

Did you install drivers for the mouse, or did they install automatically? If they were automatically installed, Windows may have chosen the wrong drivers. If the mouse came with a driver CD, try installing it and seeing if it helps. If not, you may need to return or exchange it.

One more idea to try: First, uninstall all previous mouse drivers. Then, go to the official site of the manufacturer, download the latest drivers for the mouse, and install them. Hopefully this will work, but if not, I would recommend exchanging it for a different mouse.
