I was talking with my friend, I dropped the chat window for a second and popped it back up when she replied. But for some reason nothing showed up in the message area but the brown color I have my apperance set at (see error message). It was also acting strange before then too, like the scroll bar in the message area started to blink every time you scrolled up. after I changed the IMViorment, it stopped doing that....but after a few minutes....I got that. So what is with the runtime error, what would cause it?

Possibly it's a corrupted file. Ypager.exe is the yahoo chat program itself, so it's not something ominous.

You can search in google by typing in the exact error, but it's probably some kind of resources issue--you might have been due for a restart, or the IMvironment might have needed more resources than you had available.

I would suggest that you update/reinstall Yahoo messenger just as a precaution.

The thing is I talked to her today and nothing happened.....Who knows it just could have been a glitch or something.....

And why can't I delete this file....The folder has nothing in it (I moved everything out of it) But it still gives me this:

And I mean it's not an important file or anything and nothing that I know of is using it. So what would be causing this?

Do a defrag and restart the computer, and try then. Every once in a blue moon it just reports it's there when it's already been deleted

Yes, or another idea would be to restart into Safe Mode and try deleting it from there (in case the folder is being used by a program running in the background).

I've had this error occur twice now, and I find it unnerving. While using BitTorrent I get an error saying:
quote:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Application Popup

Date: 7/13/2005

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

And of course, it happened while I was asleep, and there is no way to save it anywhere else. I also find that if I just reset my computer, the hard drive that is the slave(and the one that is being written to in this case) is not recognized on reboot. I have to shut down my computer for a while. When I bring it back up, things are fine.

I got this same error last night(though I can't find this event in my Event logger)

I also get these two things in my event logger:

After this happened last week, I defragged all my disk and emptied my recycle bin at BabyGhia's suggestion(she was here when the error happened the first time.) Is my controller going wiggy?. Granted, this partition of the hard drive is filling up but it still has 13 Gig left. Any suggestions?

The errors suggest that a bad block or few has occured on the disk - which does happen though normal usage.

Try doing a 'Check Now' in the Disk Properties|Tools menu. If possible tick both boxes and leave it to churn away.

I own all the Big O DVDs and I would like to put them into MPEG format so that I can watch them on my PDA... is there a way?

If you are using Windows, you'll have to rip the DVD contents first by using DVD Decrypter (tutorial on ripping DVD content is available here). Since you want to watch the episodes on your PDA, only rip the VOB files that contain the episodes. You may need to use DGMPGDec to make a d2v file before using Avisynth. You'll need to use AviSynth to create a AVS file (via notepad) that tell the program to convert the DVD to a MPEG file. You will need QuEnc to make this work. If you search Google, there are also programs that will make this process easier. However, most of them are not free, but do offer a free trial version for you to try.

*sighs deeply*

Dr. Watson is at it again:

I've been getting more and more of these errors of ntdll.dll crashing and just now shlwapi.dll.

I am really getting tired of this. ><

As you mentioned last time Krang, I think I must have some corrupted files, but HiJackthis and anything else I've run can't seem to find anything wrong. Oh Well
Krang 07-22-2005 02:54 AM
Did you try both of the suggestions that I posted last time? If you did and they didn't work, try downloading the latest version of HijackThis, then zip the log and attach it here.

If I remember correctly CWShredder found nothing, and I'm currently deleting DRWTSN32.EXE. (just search for it and delete what I find?)

How would I go about uninstalling/reinstalling XP SP2? (sorry if its an obvious answer, little tired at the moment Tongue )

Look under Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, and it should be in the list under "Change or Remove Programs." And yes, if you find DRWTSN32.EXE, delete it.

Uhh...sorry to bother. But I once again have computer problems. In addition to throwing out the windows on my laptop (I really should pay more attention to these things) and replacing it with Ubuntu, an OS that is very odd to me, I find I dont have the slightest clue on how to connect to the internet. I have a DSL connection, but I dont know how to configure it properly. I need help in doing so! I've looked about many a help file and tutorial...but no avail.

Please..hear my cries.

This is what I get for trying to fight the system.

Well, it depends on what modem you have. Have you tried searching to see if your model have problems with Linux? My connection worked out of the box for me, but I would try going to System --> Administration --> Networking (see first image). If your ethernet port is detected, you may have to adjust your internet settings (see second image). I would also check out the starter guide if you need any more help with your connection.

One more thing. Try disabling IPv6 on Mozilla Firefox by typing in about :config in the address bar, and look for this: network.dns.disableIPv6. Set this to true.

Wow, that's great, D-Boy. I'm glad you got it to work. Smile
Generalissimo D 07-25-2005 07:31 PM
2Wire apparently supports linux on the sole fact it can somehow function with it. It only gives advice on Redhat though. Anyway, I was looking at some options and it turns out I'm connected using PPPoE. I see options for PPPoA, Routed IPoA, and Direct IP. Now, I dont want to go messing around with options that I have no knowledge of, so any recommendations?

Edit:Uhh...I somehow got it to work. Thank you subtle genius. And Trisa.

Another Edit:

Ok...now how do I install java and quicktime on this thing?

Im not very good with computers but I have been having some problems lately and heard that I should defragment my hard drive. Before I go and do this, I want to knwo what I am doing. Could someone explain exactly what will happen if i do this?

Well, a defragment is basic maintenence. It makes the data in your hard drive alot neater, and in effect lessens up the clutter of random file bits, since data for files is spread out all along the HD. So its something you should do every once in a while. Takes a while though.

Now that I've looked at the date you last edited that post, you may already know this...

Click on these two links:
How to install J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) with Plug-in for Mozilla Firefox?
How to install Multimedia Codecs?

Use Mplayer, VLC, or Xine to view the quicktime movie files.
Generalissimo D 08-04-2005 08:38 PM
Heh. I just looked at the Guide again yesterday and fixed those problems myself. Thanks anyway...
But MPlayer likes to f**k around with firefox more than I'ld like it too.

This has never happened before....but when I went and uploaded this one picture to Geocities....this happend then it turned to a red x....

It Looks like ol'Missing no got to Vincent now Tongue ....Okay enugh with crossing over Pokemon and Cowboy Bebop....now to the matter at hand...Why would that happen, it's not like I have no space on the geocities acount or anything....so what would make a picture do this? I hope it's not my computer doing this...I mean it looks fine on the computer so my computer shouldn't be, nor should paint....and the same picture came through Imageshack just fine....so eather it's Geocities or just some kind of glitch that happened while uploading.

This is the full picture by the way:

As you can see on full view, it's not that big. So it shouldn't have done that....
