You don't happen to also have a screenshot of the "view technical information" dialog, do you? I would need to see that to know for sure what went wrong, although it sounds like some of your system files may be corrupted.

I've had that happen back on my PC in California not too long ago. I've been wondering what that was about. I also couldn't back up my HD because I got a message saying "Dr Watson Port Mortem Debugger cannot be moved" or something similar to that.

After having run a virus scan, swept for spyware, and deleted all my Temporary Internet files, Cache, etc, I am at a loss on this one.
I am not able to access some websites of no known similarity to each other (such as Yahoo's Fantasy Sports and my local county library's webpage). This is only on my computer, however. I am able to access the websites from my sister's computer, who is networked on the same Internet connection.
As I've said, I've cleared all my Temporary Internet Files and Cookies, I've run the appropriate scans, and having even tried reparing my Internet connection, nothing seems to have improved the situation.
I cannot even ping the websites.
EDIT: Figured it out.

Please disregard. (Forgot the first rule: remember changes in software configuration).
Alright, a few days ago, I think my sound card stopped working. Basically, I don't hear any sound originating from the computer except the fans within, and I know it's not my speakers because I can still use them with my CD player.. I checked System Info, and it says my sound card is working, but then again, System Info isn't very thorough. Anybody have any idea on what's wrong? I really don't have a clue what to do.

Check if you muted certain sound channels in Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices.
Disregard what I said. Turns out my sound card was disabled in the Device Manager. Don't have any clue how that happened, though. Weird... Thanks for lending a hand, though.

What is a "licence acquisition"? it just popped up right out of the blue...here's a screenshot....I closed it out after taking it....
Also....what makes some file links blue? Because most of the pictures I saved to the "My Pictures" folder are going from black to blue....that also puzzles me....

I don't have a screen shot of the problem but I can explain it.
When I first downloaded SP2 for Windows, it had a thing saying it was unable to monitor my AntiVirus at the time, so I was like, who cares, Norton Antivirus works fine on its own.
Then on the same day I downloaded updates... One was Norton for working with windows, one was for windows for better managing of the Security Center. Afterwards, next time I visited the Security Center, it said Windows can now monitor the Antivirus. Ok, sure why not, I click ok.
Now, however, like every other time I log in my name, while everything loads up, for a split second a window from Norton AntiVirus will come up, it will say that the antivirus software is disabled and if I click ok, it will disable windows' monitoring and do the work itself, but the window disappears before I can click ok. If I go to Security Center, I can check the setting to warn me if something is odd w/my AntiVirus, but as soon as I log out and come back in, it's unchecked. It also won't let me modify my AntiVirus settings.
The Norton icon is still in my taskbar saying that AutoProtect is enabled... and with it I never had a virus. However, being suspicious, I scanned my user files and found 3, which has never happened b4 (they are always detected by Norton and i just get a popup saying it's deleting infected files). Also, for a few seconds at one time, the Security Center icon appeared in the taskbar, and when I hovered my mouse over it, it said 'antivirus disabled' or something like that, but it disappeared quickly too.
I am afraid that my antivirus is now down, and I just want to return to the old settings. I'm not sure quite when all this started so I can't use a restore point, nor do I want to or feel it would even work. Any ideas?

Since it says "Play" and mentions a license, it seems to me that it has something to do with Microsoft's Digital Rights Management. If this shows up when you're not doing anything media-related (playing a CD or MP3, playing a video clip, etc.), you might want to try upgrading your version of Windows Media Player.

That means that Windows is compressing those files, most likely because they haven't been viewed in a while. This is normal if you have selected "compress old files" during the Disk Cleanup Utility. If you don't want the compressed files to show up in a different color, go to Windows Explorer, and on the Tools Menu, select Folder Options, then go to the View tab and uncheck the box next to "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color."

Unfortunately, this seems to be a common problem, but there is no obvious solution since some things work for some people and not for others. First, try downloading and running
CWShredder and see if it fixes the problem. If not, try deleting DRWTSN32.EXE, then uninstalling XP SP2, then installing it again. If that still doesn't help, post here again and I'll see if I can find any more possible solutions.

I would recommend completely uninstalling your antivirus program, then installing it again after a reboot. That way, there should be no problems with conflicts between SP2 and your version of NAV.

This is the third time I've gotten this error message all day. This is the first time this has ever happened.
Also, yesturday was the first time I've ever gotten a random pop-up. I ran ad-aware and cleaned cookies. Now, I'm getting a DIFERENT pop-up. So, the add/remove programs thingy was next. I went after anything that had the word 'toolbar' after it. Now, I'm watching my clock, and I seem to be getting the pop-ups every one minute, on the minute exactly. There's also a program called 'Aurora' that I cant find in the add-remove list. Some (not all...like every 1 of 3) pop-ups come up as this EVIL bastard program.
Now, the error message. I've attached the screencap.
I'm thinking Ad-aware. The first time I ran ad-aware like a few minutes after I logged in, and about 5 minutes...no, less...into the scan, this popped up. The second logon, I waited about ten minutes after to run Ad-aware. Again, the message. But the third time, I waited about fifteen minutes to run it, and it popped up INSTANTLY as soon as I hit 'scan.'
Also, I've noticed that when Launchcast (YIM radio) stops, EVERYTHING stops! A few seconds after that, AIM pops up for login. MSNM pops up for login. EVERYTHING. DIES. EVERY.5. MINUTES.ON.THE.DOT
HELP ME THIS SUCKS ASS AND MY PARENTS WILL NOT BE HAPPY!!
I am not running Ad-aware right now.
[Edit]
Still not running, Ad-aware, havent gotten shutdown message. Deleted a program called Slingo, haven't seen pop-up.

Thats one of the more nastier spyware programs to remove.
Go to
http://www.mypctuneup.com/ download the uninstall program and run it. You may need to run it and reboot a couple of times to be sure. It has worked for me when repairing a machine for a friend.

Did you try updating Ad-Aware with the latest definitions and scanning again? If it doesn't catch anything, try Spybot S&D (link is in the first post of this thread) with the latest definitions. If you still can't remove it, try downloading and running Hijack This! using the instructions in the first post of the thread.

My Ethernet card is apparently as resiliant as I am. From what I understand, its fully functioning. Yet every goddamn time I run the installation program for the SBC Yahoo DSL thing, it fails at the connection test. I need help ASAP. Also, Firefox, Steam(long since removed), and now PSO:BB do not connect at all.
PS:EZFirewall is evil. It does not want to get out of my system(Fails to uninstall, or reinstall for that matter). I think thats what may be causing it.
Edit:
Forgot to mention this.
At startup, for about the first 40-60 seconds if I am fast enough, I can get on firefox.
