Stuff I hope to see in the movie:
1. The translator fish that they have to stick in their ears.
2. Improbabilty Drive!
3. The computer asking why that one guy likes tea.
4. Marvin saying "Have I mentioned the agonizing pain in all the diodes down my left side?" again and again. Big Grin

You'll get it all! Except the computer and the tea bit. But it still makes a cup of something "entirely unlike tea" for Arthur.

*imagines Marvin saying in Alan Rickman's voice 'Have I mentioned the agonizing pain in all the diodes down my left side?' and melting all over the theatre floor as a result*

*looks around at somewhat disgusted Paradigmers* What?

Anyway, PCT and I are going to see it tomorrow. I am looking at this as an interpretation rather than a faithful retelling, since Mr. Adams wasn't around to ride herd on the production like he had with the television series and the radio series.

Although I had read a review mentioning they had left out the the whole 'notice' conversation between the bureaucrat and Arthur. Too bad - having someone say the line "It was in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard' - " with a straight face would be delightful.

I think the discussion about the tea happened in the second book, though.

I'm looking forward to this movie! I just need to get a chance to read the rest of the books. I've gotten through the first book. (Mom has the BIG volume of all of it).

It took me a little to find again, but for some reason, Xanga was promoting the movie with "themed Blogs." Here ya go:

Arthur
Zaphod
Marvin

SOOOOOOOOOO
This past weekend Mom, Tick, and I went off to see Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

IT WAS GREAT! I was laughing in the threater and all I can say is: I WANT A MARVIN! I nearly cried:
spoiler (highlight to read):
when Marvin got hit and you think he's dead!
Though, just hearing him go "I've got an idea but you probably won't like it," priceless. Alan Rickman, PERFECT!

Zaphod's second head was great! That freaked me out for a moment. I think Zaphod is great. LOL.

The Guide itself was cool! I loved the animation for it! That was better than I had imagined.

I highly recommend seeing it! I thought it was brilliantly done and did the book justice! That musical number was GREAT. I half expected the whole movie to be a musical. LOL.

My only problem was the second story line. I don't remember that being in the book...unless somehow I missed it or it mixed into the other line.
spoiler (highlight to read):
Oh, and the fact that didn't fully explain the towels. That would have been cool.

Oh! And did you guys know that there is a bonus tid-bit in the credits?

I saw it!....AGAIN!

And now I'm rereading the book because I couldn't bloody remember it. And I've been stuck with an English accent in my head all day since sunday. I rather like it. Wink We've been using analogies from the movie in my global studies class. This kid that sat in front of me (genius) brought up the part where everyone kept getting slapped in the face for having an idea. Point: that is what society does to children for having an imagination or being creative or thinking...and so forth.

"What are cows? seriously..." ZB

He did that winking thing a lot.

Lastly, if I had just one more wish, I would like a tasty fish.

Yeah i saw it a few weeks back with two of my friends who haven't read the book, and they still enjoyed it as well as I did. (Pinkk especially liked the "Thanks for all the fish" song XD ) Anyway, I thought it was pretty faithful to the book...

My favorite line: "It won't work on me, I'm already a woman." XD
