xana_fae: I don't like this one as much a your last one, but it's still pretty good 8/10
Almasy 01-12-2005 09:35 PM
xana_fae: I think your new avatar is interesting! It's a little plain, and the image is kind of hard to see, even though it's obvious what it is. The text is cool, though. What it says is also very interesting. I think this avatar would benefit greatly from a black border. ^__^ 8/10

com_bun_bun: I think I've rated this avatar of yours recently. I can't remember what I gave it then. But today I give it an 8/10 because it's original!

Thanks. It's actually the mascot from the first Mars Volta album (some odd spider monkey thingy) that was featured in one of their videos. I've got a few shirts with it on it.

Almasy: You're like a photo editing god. I love what you did with it. 10/10

xana_fae:

It's an improvement on your last one, at the very least.

However, this one still does not have anything going for it. At first glance, it's quite boring. It blends in too well with the forums. Color is good here, as everything can be rather grey.

Additionally, quality is not all too good. The background is blurry (is that the intention), and the text is a bit fuzzy.

Speaking of the text, it fits in too much. And, it's split up too much. It's hard to even notice that it's there.

Overall:

6.2/10

Wienberg, Kramer is cool, the colors are alright, somewhat blend into the site, but not too bad. 9.9/10

Figure I'll change to Megas XLR "mode" for a bit. Tongue

Hmm...have I rated your avatar? I don't think I have...

Anyway, this is pretty good. There's no pixelated edges on Mr. Coyote (unlike what was your major flaw the last time). It's pretty clear, and the coloration is very nice.

9.3/10

Ooh, com_bun_bun, your new avatar is really interesting/different! I like it!

The edges in areas are a little too "sharp", but overall I think it's very cool! 8.5/10

Interesting. The quality could be better, but it seems to correspond to your signature image somewhat. A border might help.

Almasy:

Well, this is your classic avatar now, isn't it. The head shot of yourself.

First of all, I'm not a fan of the border. There is too much black in that shot for it to be effective. Choose a different color.

Your Avatar is a great technical feat. You show a mastery of Photo-editting, Almasy. The Grey Scale+Color effect is practically flawless (though I've not found a flaw, I don't want to go all the way and say it's absolutely flawless).

Just one thing. Too much contrast on your face. The light spot sticks out too much, taking away dimension from your face.

What I think this avatar shows is the penetration of Pop Culture. First of all, you've got those Sunglasses. Are those Louis Vuitton? (sp?) I know I'm horrid with brand names, but I just read a Time Magazine Article, and one of the topics was about those Designer's glasses, and how they've become a Pop-Culture necessity. Next, your Models Wanted T-Shirt. I think this once again a display of the grip of Pop Culture. Culture says you have to fit a perfect style (what's always current, and also fit a certain physical description). More importantly, it portrays the job of being a Model as the most satisfying profession available. Though I can't direct others opinions, I cannot see anyone wishing to be a model for anything but the money. It's really stressful on body and mind (always trying to keep up with culture and fitting society's concept of perfect beauty). Finally, the color effects are reminiscent of the iPod commercials (the shadows with the white earbuds and iPod). While not a perfect throwback, this certainly reminds one of it.

My apologies for the rant about Pop Culture, but Almasy's avatar reminded me of it.

Rating: 8.7/10 (For the Border and the facial contrast).
