Fullmetal Alchemist Music Discussion

Seeing as the Central City section is still pretty empty right now, I figured I'd make a thread about the music in the series Fullmetal Alchemist.
Personally, the music is great! It seems to flow with the scenes very well. Most of the music in FMA is orchestral, with the exceptions of the opening and ending themes, which I'll get to later. I remember getting the first original soundtrack when I heard preview samples of the music in the soundtrack. Ever since then, I have been listening to the soundtrack a lot. The composer that does the background music in FMA is Michiru Oshima. I'll post a link to info on the OST later.
Now, the soundtrack also included the TV size versions of the 1st opening and ending theme. The opening is called Melissa, and is performed by Porno Graffiti. The ending theme is called Kese Nai Tsumi, and is performed by Nana Kitade. Both songs are nice to listen to. I haven't seen the opening or ending sequences from FMA yet, but I plan on doing so as well. I believe there are 4 opening themes and 4 ending themes for the whole series.
So anyway, after seeing the first episode, what do you guys think of the music so far?

Well keep an eye on the ASF section of toonamiarsenal.com as they should have the openings and endings for FMA sooner or later. I personally was more focused on the story to notice the music, which means that it fit it well and blended with the action going on at the time. Much different that Big O, where the music played an active part in the action going on.

Great idea for a thread! I love the orchestral music, too. For some reason, it reminds me of something Tchaikosky might have written, like his music for "Peter and the Wolf."
And I love the opening music by Porno Graffiti. It's so Mighty Mighty Bosstones-ish. It makes me wanna jump up and down and then into the mosh pit!
I will miss that tune though, because I believe that with episode 13, there will be a new opening song by a band called L'Arc-en-Ciel, It is supposed to be good, though. BTW, L'Arc-en-Ciel is French for rainbow. Literally, it means " arc in the sky."

Actually, the opening that is airing on Cartoon Network now is "Ready Steady Go" by L'Arc-en-Ciel, so they'll probably keep using it at least until episode 25. For some reason, Funi decided to skip ahead to the second opening right away instead of using the real first opening, "Melissa," for the first 13 episodes.

My favorite songs so far are "Melissa" [Porno Graffiti] , "Ready Steady Go!" [L'Arc-en-Ciel] , and "The Other Side of the Door" [YeLLOW Generation]. Very nice songs, indeed. I also heard that the second OST recently came out in Japan as well.

Krang, Trisa:
Thanks for setting me straight, that's why I love loggin in here. I can get corrected without getting flamed.
The way AS butchers the opening and closing of series just to accommodate the all-important advertising gives one all the more reason to aqcuire the DVDs to see what you have been missing.

My favorite OP is the last one, "Rewrite", by ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION. My favorite ED is probably "Wonderland".
I love the music in Fullmetal Alchemist, but there are a few tracks that are especially pleasing to the ears. Of all of them, I enjoy the BGM piece "Brothers" and the version of Chopin's Etude No 3 in the last episode the most.

It's hard to imagine that I haven't written anything in this thread yet.
My favorite all around song is still "To the Other Side of the Door" I just love the violins. It's very dreamy.
Lately, I've been listening to the Hagaren Song Files.
My favorites so far are:
1) "Returnable Memories" ( Ed)
Mostly because of the beginning instrumentals, but I like the arrangement in general
2) "Koko wa Koko ni Iru" (Al)
It has a hard edge to it that you don't actually get from the character of Al himself. Granted, I don't have a clue as to what he( she really) is saying, but I still like it.
3) "Hagane no Kokoro" (Ed, et al) is just upbeat and happy.
I haven't heard the Roy Mustang files yet. Anyone else have any thoughts on these?

Heyo!

I've been wondering what was the song that played during the end credits in "Words of Farewell"? (that durge-like drum beat)
Also, I've found something neat

It might be old news (I don't know), but I figured I might as well post it, since it's related.

The song that you hear at the end of "Words of Farewell" is from the song "Amestris"....that is track 27 on the FMA OST1. Check about 2 minutes into the song.

I have to agree in my opnion the only good thing about this series is the music. It is very well thought out and it does flow well with the scenes. And the music also sets a good tone for the various epsoides as well.
