Actually, my guess is it really is purely mental. I think the infected person has to be conscious of the fact they are no longer a virgin. Like say, you know Miaka's best friend in Fushigi Yuugi who thought she was raped but was actually still a virgin? I bet she would succumb to the individual eleven virus.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying and after watching the episode too many times to remember, I get what Goda is saying as well.
Anyway, the lastest episode was even better, the dub was pretty damn good, and the plot thickens.
I like the Major's plan. Crazy as hell, but still a good plan nonetheless. Cool to see Ishikawa again and that he's well. Also, who was that guy Kuze was talking to and why did he look way too much like Aramaki? I was starting to think that it was the old man in disguise on a different solo mission. And speaking about Kuze, like the old man, I didn't really get the jist of his revolution plans (swissh! over my head!). Also interesing that Motoko sent a message of her plan to Kuze, the war has finally started, and about Goda, I how he was linked to the Net and everything but why did he need all those cables linked up to his head? There had to be like nine of them stuck up his head.
Also, I liked that one line by that one really pale dude as soon as he was informed that the Prime Minister brought in the UN said; "Begin making the plans for the Prime Minister's removal from office." Nicely delivered.
Peace.

It was Daisuke (Aramaki's) long lost brother whose name I forgot. They had an episode sort of about him last season where Aramaki got in deep trouble because he went looking for him.

That's right, that makes perfect sense. It's interesting how all of these little nuggets they throw out come back to the forefront of the story.
That said, I'm somewhat confused by the whole plot of this second season. So Gouda (?) wants to create a conflict? Okay, and Kuze is following suit, but may not be the puppet people thought. And Section 9 is in the middle of it? Okay. I guess it works. I'm sure it's much deeper than that, but I don't have the energy to think that hard aabout a TV show.

Oh...
... right. I vaguely remember that episode. But hell, that was rather random wasn't it?

I hear that. I get what you mean, but I get the main jist of it as well. Also, realting to Goda, what the hell does he exactly do anyway? I mean I know he has a government position but what is it anyway and how his he able to wield all this power that it seems like he has?
EDIT: From wikipedia.com,

That's Goda's job.
But yeah, the plot of the second season, as confused as it might be, completely kicks ass.

Very interesting... Things are starting to become much clearer now. I hadn't expected them to remove the Prime Minister from office and then place all the blame on her shoulders, so that's a good twist. I can't wait to see Aramaki and Togusa storm that building with nothing but one revovler. I'm still waiting for the Major to FINALLY catch up with Kuze, I wish they wouldn't drag that out so much... Oh and as for those soldiers, I feel sorry that their commander didn't inform them of just who they were messing with...

Last night's episode "Nuclear Power" was excellent - the climax is nearing and the action is getting more intense.
So what exactly is a "Bio Android" like Proto?

Well, in Outlaw Star, a Bio Android was not quite human but not quite robot either. Basically, it was sort of a mix, but it was considered an actual lifeform rather than a robot. Think like a robotic test tube baby.

Yeah, that was another great episode and photography and the sound get better and better with each episode.
I read that the PM would get removed from office, I just didn't think it would be so soon and Goda made things even more interesting with the hidden American-Empire submarine.

Yeah, dammit. I'm waiting for that too, that we'll be one helluva confrontation. Speaking of Kuze, what was that that him and his boys blew up?
The scenes with the Tachikomas was annoying as usual but very informative to the story. Also, it looks like Batou, Saito, Boma, and Pazu will be going guerilla warfare now (w/ the plutonium no less), which I'm looking very much to see. And that was a very good ending, Batou walking into the shadows like that.
Peace.

That was the SDA aircraft that was jamming communications.

Oh, thanks Jimmy. Then that was a good thing that they did.
Also, here's something to think about; if Goda didn't send in Section 4 (they ones that Batou was shooting at as the episode ended, I think) to get the warheads like there were told, why did he send them in in the first place?
Peace.

An AWACS nonetheless (the dish was slightly forward on the plane than it actually is though), and it looks like they were firing Stingers at it.
I think I've mentioned this before, but I absolutely love the amount of detail put into the various technology and gepolitical setting in this show. It really makes it seem....is plausible the right term for a series about sentient walking tanks and mechanically augmented supersoldiers that can turn invisible at will? I don't know, maybe "grounded" would be better. I mean they could have just said "so theres cyborgs, and everyone has a laser gun...aaand the reason this is there is it's the future, and this looks cool", but thats just been done so many times by now.

I just rented the first Ghost in the Shell and I must say I'm impressed. (even though the ending was a MAJOR letdown) Are the others any good?

The movies or the show?
The first movie was good, the 2nd sucked, and both shows were good.
The movies and shows have nothing to do with eachothers as the former is more philosophical and the latter is more about politics and such.

I know theres a third movie (this one set in the SAC universe) coming out...summer or something, but am I crazy or was there a rumor of a third season of the t.v. series?
The reason I ask is apparently the next movie has section 9 being expanded with a bunch of new members, and I'm wondering if that means theres some attempt to set up another series or a spinoff about said new characters...however well that'd even work.

That was mention a few pages back on this thread. I think it's a movie based on the Stand Alone Complex series.

Agreed. That's what makes the show so damn good, that so much detail has been put into the whole aspects of the show. From the technology used, to the cities, and to the overall notion of the series' animation itself.
Also, regarding the latest episode aired last Saturday, damn good as usual and it seems like the conclusion is coming up real soon. Motoko and Kuze being trapped together was interesting, and Goda keeps making things interesting with the American Empire nuclear sub and now a letter he wants delivered... by express.
Also, if anybody heard Kuze's plan (taking the memories and ghosts of the refugees into a cyber hub-brain and fusing them with the interface of the net), it sounds a lot like Scar's plan from FMA. The same basic notions follow; using a part of yourself to sacrifice for your people to take them in and exist as a different form. Expect instead of 'Philosopher's Stone', just switch that for the Internet.
Peace.

Whoa, in the end they totally re-did the first few pages of the manga, including getting pay raises! The only thing missing was Motoko's "Work? What's that?". Awesome.
Oh, and we all know that Batou totally has the hots for the Major.

I found it very amusing that they shot Goda's face in like that. It just, exploded.
Decent ending, but I thought/hoped the blue lines coming from the Tatchcomas was them downloading themselves into the hub they had started making for the Major. Whilst the one Butchcoma who spoke sounded kind of like one of the Tatchcomas... it still felt weird with them all dying.

Do they repeat these on thursday like I assume they still do with the other stuff that airs on saturday? If not somebody just spoil it all for me, because I missed it.

I liked it, but do they have to end every season with the Tachcomas bravely sacrificing themselves? ¬¬
