The Offical Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex/SAC: 2nd Gig Thread!

I like "Rise" better than "Inner Universe", but I lilke "Lithium Flower" better than "Living Inside the Shell".

The Tachicomas are so cute! Anime Smile

I'm astounded at the awesomeness of that episode. They became individuals through being a collective being and the Individual 11 became a collective being after being individuals. Confused

Perhaps this is a debate if more than a mind and body exists? MY HEAD IS GOING TO EXPLODE! Crying
Sharpshooter005 03-12-2006 12:50 AM
I love episodes like this, because they're very well written.

Yet at the same time, the voices of the tachikomas give me a slight headache, so it's...it's both awesome and mildly uncomfortable.
Wingnut 03-12-2006 12:48 PM
It makes me wonder considering how fast the Tachicomas talk in english that it must be a b*tch to understand in japanise.
That move that they did just after syncroniseing was really funny too. Like they were recovering from a brainfreeze or something.
Raven 03-12-2006 01:07 PM
I actually hated last night's episode. It's not the lack of action that bothered me, but the 15-20 minutes of poorly animated tochicomas waving their arms around wildly and talking in those annoying voices. The first season's chatroom episode was a lot better IMO.
Ano Hito 03-12-2006 03:47 PM
Yes, I too found it boring.
Nine Kuze 03-12-2006 03:49 PM
I didn't watch it, not because I fell asleep but because I taped the new episode of FullMetal Alchemist and I was watching that over, and over, and over, and over, and...

I just looked at the info and it read that the Tachikomas were talking about Individuality. It didn't seem interesting to me, so I didn't watch it.

Can anybody give me the lowdown on what happened?
Peace.

What I found REALLY funny for some reason, is after five minutes I sort of went "wait...wait their legs aren't connected to their bodies for some reason".

Yeah, if you look at the virtual reality/whatever scenes..the legs are just sort of floating near them.

Well, since Samurai Champloo finished up last week with its finale, AS brought GitS: SAC 2nd GIG to the Wednesday lineup.

They showed the "Reembody" episode, the one where Section 9 is brought back and they have their first encounter with the Individual 11 group.

First off, the Prime Minister is fine. But, I hate her voice acting who does the character. Just bad, annoying, and doesn't really fit to me.

I know I'm late on this one so bear with me, but this was a badass episode. From the Major shooting down that guy and descending from the window to Batou tackling that other terrorist and slamming right through the wall and just walking away with his invisibility cloak. Damn good episode.
Peace.
Schoolie 03-16-2006 08:36 PM
Yeah, this was the 1st episode of the "2nd Gig" second season. A nice action-packed episode.

It came close to topping the first episode of season 1, where not three minutes in the Major shoots a guys foot off and then tells him to shut up and deal with it when he starts complaining about inadequacies in the judicial system.

But yeah, it was still good.

Anyone see last night's episode?

I was expecting a backstory on Ishikawa, but instead we get one about Kuze (sp?), the White Swordsman.

Major tip off to who he is...
Raven 03-19-2006 12:39 PM
Yeah, the one line about what he did in the camp just confirmed what I had said earlier. Anyway, I am still waiting for an Ishikawa episode. He was a major character in the movie, so why hasn't he gotten any spotlight yet? But despite that, I hope the show starts to pick up soon. I don't want it to drag on or anything like that.

Yeah, it sure did Raven. What a good episode and once they said "paper airplanes", that's the first thing I remembered. Thanks again for that. Also, yeah Ishikawa needs an episode. Badly. He's just a stand up and damn cool dude. I mean they gave one to Pazu, Pazu dammit! They can shell one out to Ishikawa. Anyway, I wonder what Gouda has been doing during all this.

Also, its also a joy to see the Prime Minister on the screen. Pleased And Aramaki's line about the PM being her type was cleverly genius and funny.
Peace.

I was just re-watching last Saturday's episode when I realized that one of the soldiers in a cot in the tent appears to be...jacking off. I mean, his back is to us and his arms are going up and down, what else could he be doing?
Jstar136 03-25-2006 04:12 PM
Well, the trauma from the massacre could give him involuntary convulsions.

I'm not sure masterbating in an army tent amongst men is commonplace. Confused

I thought it was convulsions also. Since they're shown drinking a ton, smoking alot of opium, and throwing up also. So...yeah..."the shakes" seems like sort of a more relevant thing.

My guess was that he was so f***ed up that he didn't care anymore, but I suppose convulsions explains it too...it's less interesting though.

On an unrelated note, do Togusa, Batou, Ishikawa, Pazu, and Boma have first names? It appears that the only section nine people will full names are Motoko Kusanagi and Daisuke Aramaki. I was very much hoping in the trial episode Togusa would get a name, but only his wife did.

By the way, every time I see the ugly guy in the prime minister's cabinet, I keep hoping they'll do the scene where the Major makes him punch himself, but the humor wouldn't fit in with the show.

Also, I keep hoping they'll play out Section 9 vs. Section 1 like they did in the manga.

As for any other random thoughts before I see this weeks episode, why is it that Togusa, the only married member of Section 9, is always the one to run into cute unattatched girls? (who die...)

That's a good question. I've always assumed that at least Togusa's full name would be told but it hasn't happened yet.

He is very ugly, he reminds me of a frog.

They did that? That sounds very interesting. I've never read the manga (any good?) but from what I've been watching on the anime, I don't think that's going to happen. Because we've seen Section 1 I think once and it was from half an episode. But, if they do that, that would be sweet.

I read the info for tonight's episode (I forget the title of it) but it says that Motoko goes to another city to follow a lead on Kuze. Sounds interesting as always and I hope to learn more about Kuze.
Peace.
