Who saw Pazu (Pazo?) knife fight? I did!
It's great that they shed a little light on the underdeveloped characters of the team.
The plot begins to unravel.

I saw the knife fight. It was sort of odd for them to actually focus on Paz for once. But after seeing how dull he actually is, I'm not surprised that it took this long. But I have to ask... After seeing the Paz get scarred on the chest in the beginning of the fight, are we to assume that:

Paz was the one who got killed?

Yeah that threw me too. It seemed pretty deliberate to show the scar.

Wasn't his exact line something like "who cares" or "dosen't matter to me"?
Either way, it'd be funny if this somehow wound up as a plot point later on. I'm not sure how much the writers have to stick to their labeling of an episode as stand-alone or...whatever the other two are in this season. Is it really misdirection if they break their own "rules"?

Ah but if you looked closely enough, both of them had scars in almost the exact same place. So if there was one withOUT the chest scar then that person would not be Pazu.
Besides if Batou thought it was the real one that survived then that's good enough for me considering that this was a stand alone episode.

But wait, they mentioned important facts about the main villain. Hm.
By the way, it bugs me how much the main bad guy at this point resembles Togusa. They kept going on about how handsome he is, right when good old Togusa is right there and as I recall was called ugly in a throwaway line at least once before.

If it was either the Major or Batou, it was probably teasing.

Well, what I was really getting at is that I think the character designers are lazy bastards.

I have to agree with most of you on wondering why they would focus on Pazu at this stage of the series, including what happened in the last episode. But that was pretty sweet to see the events of what happened minutes before everyone went King Louis XVI. Very interesting.
But I thought at first that Pazu won the fight, then they showed the girl, who had the exact same scar at the same place. Damn, and it was actually funny to see that Batou didn't really think about it or didn't really care either.
The white swordsman storyline is catching on, and yeah, in a way he does sort of look like Togusa. I was wondering why he doesn't talk that much and wondering if that has to do with anything in the future? Hopefully, it does.
Peace.

Big Spoilers about the swordsman for those who want to know who he is.
spoiler (highlight to read):
I believe he's that kid who was in the plane crash with the Major, the one who folded the paper cranes.

Are you serious? That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard. What aplot twist, but interesting enough, you go from paper cranes to katanas. Go figure.
Peace.

Does anyone know what's on tonight?
Also, I've noticed that it seems that this season has less references to the movies and manga than the first one.

Yeah, so last night's episode was another minor character backstory.
It was about Saito (the sniper). It describes his past as a merc and how he got pzowned by the Major. I love how they call America "Imperial" and how they point out that oil and drugs had started WWIII.
I thought this was better than last week's.

Last nights was probably one of the better episodes in the series I dare say. Saitoh is pretty cool, despite his ass whooping he got at the hands of the Major. We also got to see a bit of the pasts of Batou and Ishikawa was well. (BTW, Ishikawa is LOOOOONG overdue for his own episode seeing as how he was in the original movie and all.) I also enjoyed seeing Batou as a stupid rookie.

I love how whenever I'm incredibly tired and fall asleep, THEN the episodes everyone winds up going "wow, best in the whole series" are on.
Its a conspiracy, yeah.
I'm...assuming this was a stand alone episode? I'm not going to wind up being baffled over some plot point (or..anymore than usual) later on right?

Same here man... I remember seeing the intro start... and then all of a sudden one of the Evas was killing something... I should really realise I can't stay up until 4AM when I get up before noon.

I liked the episode, and it's always nice to get background info on other characters. I also liked that the Major beat Saitou not because she was a cyborg, but because she out-witted him. The only thing about the episode I didn't like was that Togusa was nowhere to be found! Oh well.

Sharpie, you gotta stop doing that. And when I was watching this, I kept thinking to myself that this is YOUR episode. It was pretty damn good and don't worry, it doesn't really have anything to do with the main plot of the series.
Major was kicking ass and takin' names in this episode and Batou looked and sounded like a dumbfounded rookie. Major's nickname is Queen Kong. Nice.
Also that stand off between Motoko and Saitoh was as sweet as you know what and watching the card game was excellent too.

That got me crackin' up. Good thing since high school, I made the habit of not sleeping in the night, so I can do stuff just like this.
Peace.

Question for those who regularly watch this series.
What are the two main opening songs titled? I watch this anime on and off, and I've caught both openings, and I think two different songs are used for each, though I could be wrong, and I really like them so I'm curious as to the titles.

The opening is "rise" and the ending is "Living Inside the Shell".

Those songs rock my world.
