*pulls hair out*

Arg... I got the second movie for Christmas and it's only in Japanese. Is there an English dub for this damn thing yet?
Phantom X 12-29-2005 01:31 AM
Im affraid there isnt yet, though I am not 100% sure.

Does anyone know of a whole forum (like this one) contrubuted to Ghost in the Shell and is in English? I have been searching the Net forever trying to find one. PM me if you do know of one please.

Thank you all,

Phantom

Ah, good old Dreamworks. They may not like endglish dubs, but luckily the movie got picked up for a uk/aus release by people who do. Out in Feb.

Okay, this was another one of those "complex" episodes and I'm scratchign my head. Can anyone fill me in on exactly how Section 9 got "duped" along with Section 1?

From what I can tell, they killed the wrong man - or at least someone who they weren't supposed to kill. And it appears the scarfaced dude is manipulating things behind the scenes, as he has some sort of vendetta against something/one.

(And what's with these different Sections? Are they different police/investigative/military departments?)

Section 9 is Public Security Section 9. I think they referred to Section 1 as Internal Security Section 1.

So I'm guessing they all have slightly different jurisdictions. Like..Section 9 would be the equivilent of the FBI (handling stuff like counter-terrorism, hostage situations, and so on. In fact I think the title of the anime or the manga in Japan is "Mobile Armored Riot Police" or something) and Section 1 would be the NSA or something.

well there is a UK one, for the UK release, haven't heard it but I do pray that it is better than say old manga UK dubs.

WARNING - ramblings on the manga follow

In the manga, they do a similar set up where Section 1 and Section 9 get set against each other. (Motoko's boyfried is in Section 1. In the TV show and movies, her boyfriend is conspicuously absent.) Oh, and in the ensuing carnage, Motoko loses an arm and looks super cool taking people out with a knife (and knifing her boyfriend...) Unfortunately, it's Togusa who ends up the worse for wear at the end of the day, getting significantly bloodied up. However, it's not this adventure that lands him in the hospital in the manga, but an unrelated incedent.

Having only seen the series and one movie, thats..somehow hard to picture, yeah.

It does however make me wonder just how different the manga is in any other ways.

It's been a while since I read the manga....but if I remember right he only showed up like for one or two and a 1/2 chapters (depending on how long section 1 Vs. 9 lasted...like I said I forgot....).

The manga's not that diffrent (Unless your going by MMI....). Other then Motoko having a boyfriend and all....there seems to be more humor in it too.....

Thanks, Green Bird but I have to agree with Sharpie on this one. Hearing, let alone seeing, that Motoko even has the notion of having a boyfriend is hard to picture and just plain wrong. I mean, Motoko's a fine girl but still, it doesn't seem like she's the relationship type.

Also, I haven't really been watching the series all that much because its not as interesting to me as the Laughing Man saga but it seems that Scarface (I don't know his real name) is screwing around with Section One and Nine. And I'm thinking that he's either trying to get the mysterious Eleven group by myself by using the different sections or his in league with them. I don't know and who was that guy on the television you knew everything about the case?! Interesting.
Peace.

This show never ceases to amaze me with each new episode that comes along. Even though it's a bit late, I must say I love the new opening. It's almost as good, if not better, than the first seasons. I'm really interested to see how things play out with the new Primes Minister and that Gohey guy.

BTW, anyone else disappointed that this GiTS doesn't get it's own room like Samurai Champloo and Full Metal Alchemist?

Yeah, considering..I know nothing about either of those.

I'm not disapointed because I have a TiVo. Cool

I love this anime because it's so intricate and deep! Not to mention the action is intense as well. My favorite episode from last season was with the dead rich guy and Togusa places the coin on his chest.

Quick Q: Does Togusa still use his revolver in the 2nd Season?

Yes he does. He used it most reciently while confronting the last suicide bomber in the latest episode to run on AS this past Saturday. The gun he used was definately that old revolver of his.
Sharpshooter005 01-31-2006 08:41 AM
Fun fact. Togusa's revolver, both of them as there are apparently two, is a Mateba Autorevolver (or a slightly modified ficticious take on it, the cylinder swings out differently)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mateba_Autorevolver

You didn't need to know any of this but now you do.

Theres apparently an entire bonus dvd which is literally nothing but explanations of the various weapons/technologies/political situations in the series.
Nine Kuze 01-31-2006 01:46 PM
I was right!!! I guess. That guy (I don't his name but I call him 'Scarface') is the man behind the Individual Eleven and he's going to produce a hero that will change the world. Man, when I heard that I was hoping he would tell Motoko that the hero would be her. Man, sometimes this show is so intellectical that it blows over my head at times...

Although Togusa is fresh to def and has pretty sweet guns, that really interesting that they have an entire DVD set on the technical aspect of GITS. Is it out already because that would be very interesting to watch.
Peace.
Jstar136 02-05-2006 12:00 AM
Yes! The new episode roxxored!

You guys were right, he used a Mateba (explicitly retold)!

Pretty good how they got vengeance at the end...
Raven 02-05-2006 12:07 AM
Wow... Section 9 actually caused what happened to those two in the end? Ha, I guess that will teach them what happens when you mess with something as big as Section 9.
Nine Kuze 02-06-2006 12:38 PM
That was a pretty good episode, but... did Togusa really quit from Section 9 or was that all a rouse for the case? And just for the record, that lawyer was a real prick.
Peace.
