Yeah, I guess there was a car bomb or something at the end. But I liked the very end sequence where it showed all the Section 9 members in action again - Sweet!
I'm a little confused about the "ruse" of the members' arrests. So were they just let go after they were arrested or what? And what about those nasty military guys? I guess most of them got what was due them.
An interesting episode, but not as action packed as I thought it might by. It was definitely more of an epilogue, and I suppose it fits the show - all the techno stuff/Tom Clancy subterfuge (sp?).

I guess the cheif made a deal with the higher ups to pretend to give up his crew... but uh didnt let his crew in on it. Assuming they would all survive.
At the end it seems the real top tier knew they would never give up such a powerfull tool for political matters and brought them all back.
I'm assuming the military people and the people in the middle know nothing of this deal between aramaki and the higher ups.

*hopes to bob they play the episodes during the week*
I need to see these back to back. My saturdays are mad busy enough to keep me from watching it.

does anyone know if they still play SAC in Japan?

GITS: SAC is very good show and I think I might be obsessed with it. 2nd gig seems to be just as good, if not better. I have only seen up to episode nine, but it looks promising. If you want to start watching it, check Google for sites that have them. I found one easily; however, I can’t give the name for certain reasons.
Oh, yeah. I think the thing at the end was not a car bomb, but a poison injector. And in 2nd gig…

All the characters return including the TACHIKOMAS

Finding it is EASY, surprisingly easier than Madlax, which is newer, and not televised to my knowledge (which you'd think would mean people are less afraid of violating any copyrights).
Yes, my friend and I are both huge fans of it. But both of us find the fact there are random shorts on the DVDs of the tachikomas playing little 'games' (apparently one just blasts the hell out of another with a minigun, to which the "victim' replies "THAT WAS FUN! MY TURN!") a bit jarring considering how the series is usually less than upbeat.
Also we incessantly quote (among others) the lines "Bring the damn car around", and the tachikoma saying "SO HE WAS ABLE TO EXPERIENCE DEATH!" complete with high pitched, upbeat voice. Any context these fit into, even slightly, will provoke them being said.

I assumed it was a car bomb, minus any explosion shown.
Also somehow the random assassin walking casually off and saying "You need to adapt to survive" was just...really cool. And even though I doubt they'll follow up on that in season 2, it was the single best unnamed background character ever.
If I can, I'm going to try and rent the second movie this weekend. Hopefully blockbuster has it, and hopefully the dubbing for the majors voice is alot better than the first one.

I'm really having trouble buying the fact that the whole attack on Section 9 that caused the lives of dozens of soldiers was a ruse. Not only did they rack up a huge amount in property damage and destroyed military equipment, but they also killed quite a few innocent soldiers. I guess section 9 must be pretty damn important if they would just throw away all of that. Still, I would have like to seen a showdown with that guy in the red hat and trench coat.
On another note.. I just bought the special edition DVD of the original Ghost in the Shell movie. I hope it turns out to be as good as the series is whenever I get around to watching it.

Its different, its more philosophical rather than politcal.
I guess thats all I can say.
It was made a few years before.

Sunglasses guy and suitcase bomber prove how great this show of. Even the one-off, nameless background characters seem to ooze personality in their own way.
Yes. Even the most insubstantial background aspects of this show were great.
Oh, and Blockbuster didn't have GitS:Innocence. Guess what was in the anime section instead? Yep. Invader Zim.
Somebody up there must really dislike me.

Is that second Ghost in the Shell movie new or something? I had heard that it was still being dubbed, yet I have seen it in just about every movies store I've went to. I might look that up if I ever get to watching the first movie that is...

It was out in theaters a while back, and apparently out on DVD. Though I haven't seen the dvd really...then again I haven't gotten around to looking.

The company didn't dub it for some odd reason. Caused a stir awhile back. It's a good movie though.

Well I finally watched it... and unfortunatly the one part skipped so I have to return it... Anyway, I don't really know what to say about that movie. It was very thought provoking... I just didn't understand what all the random nudity was about. Does the Major have to be naked to use that optic camo? Doesn't seem that way since she still wears some sort of white leggings.

I guess being quasi nude was a requirment for the cloaking, and that they got rid of it in the show.

Well I guess so... I kind of felt it took away from the film and really ruined the serious attitude that the film was trying to portray... It just seemed utterly ridiculous to watch her tear off her clothes in the middle of a battle with a tank. They could have easily given her a cloaking device like that guy had near the beginning of the file, but oh well.

Well let's think about Motoko. She is in general, a rather unpleasant person to be around. So how do you make the male viewers like her? Give her a great body and have her nude often.

Isn't she supposedly even worse in the manga, like she makes some joke when togusa is in the hospital basically amounting to "die already, you're burdening your family"? (I may have heard that somewhere earlier in this thread, I forget.)
Because if so, I need to start buying those. Since...yeah, thats kind of awesome.

It was more along the lines of "the sooner you die, the sooner your wife can find a new man". Still, quite cruel. There's also more humor in the manga.

I don't want to break the binding to scan it, but I'll try to find you a picture.
