The Offical Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex/SAC: 2nd Gig Thread!

I can't wait to see Foxhounds response to the bare ass shot of the Major...

Anyways, I find it really cool how the Laughing Man can go in an out of rooms without people noticing because he can hack eyes. I also enjoyed it when the Major kicked that woman right through a window after the Laughing Man helped her.I wonder how the Laughing Man's character will develope as the series continues on...

Awesome episode.

So the higher ups in this whole micromachines scandal are using the DEA (?) to directly attack section 9.

Aramaki has a brother and he is conflicted about his job becuase of it. And the major almost got killed, although I saw it coming. Putting herself in such a vulnerable position with someone like that. Although she did give her a swift kick in the face at the end.

Anyone seen the original version? Did AS cut anything out of that scene?

Anyway the laughing man gave the major his memories so we may figure out more in the next ep.

The scenes with the major were pretty cool. I had read the AS summary so I knew there'd be a problem when she went to get transfered to her new body but she basically walked into it. Also, with her friend there, and what they were talking about, I wonder how good of friends they are (current or former lovers?). And Aramaki walked right into that trap, too. It's like this episode was all about showing how weak the strong ones are, and how they still rely on the lower people.

I wonder, I'v noticed there is a section of the city that is in complete ruins, and they never really say why.

Are we to assume its just one of those implied futuristic anime "Tokyo was destoryed in a war so we built a new one next to it" deals?
Wingnut 04-11-2005 08:29 AM
Probably an earthquake or something like that, but yeah.
BabyGhia 04-12-2005 08:27 PM
The conspiracy just keeps on. I pretty much knew the Major was in trouble with the body switch. As soon as the woman walked in, I knew.

I'm wondering how next weeks is going to be. Hmmm....

Exactly. It called up to mind this fine woman.

That episode was interesting but difficult to follow. It's one of the things about GITS I like, that real life is very difficult to follow since people rarely explain things to each other, but it can make the show hard to understand at times.

Apparently, after major got the laughing man's memories, she posed as him to Serrano (the head of the micromachine company) in order to get him to reveal more stuff in a fashion that he wouldn't have if he had been arrested for questioning. Thinking back on the episode, I realized that when Aramaki said he thought that the Laughing Man would start looking for Serrano, this was a plot hint, as was the fact that nobody discussed the fact that Major had LM's memories.

Based on what Serrano said, it seems the secretary general was behind the scheme to suppress the Morai vaccine (I didn't quite understand why) and was the indirect enabler of the men who had those special invisibility and cyborg suits. We also learned that 6 years ago, Serrano said he was going to cooperate with the Laughing Man to expose the truth about micromachines but he betrayed him after LM released him.

So where is the real Laughing Man? It will also be interesting to see what Serrano does after his arrest. I hope we hear more about what the motivations of the General Secretary are.

I feel stupid for not realizing that the Major was posing as the laughing man:

1) Becuase I kept wondering why no one talked about major having LM's memories.

2) And the fact that the kid didn't reveal his face.

Anyway you're right about major trying to confirm info and get new info out of serrano through posing as the kid.

Now what was the kids original motivation?

I'm assuming he thought: "They have a vaccine that works, and people are dying, so I'm going to expose them" and apparently they're portraying him as somewhat naive and that in the end they used his own stunt against him.

Now I wonder where the show is going to go from here.

Yeah, it's getting a little hard to follow now that we have almost no plot anymore. Who's the villain? What's the objective? Will the Major ever cover up?

Right after this, I watched the South Park movie on Comedy Central, and then I started having weird dreams where the Laughing Man was Kenny, The Major was Stan, Batou was Cartman, and Togusa was Kyle. Yeah, it was pretty weird.

ha.

Well we're all big o fans... LETS SPECULATE WHoooooooooooo!

1) They still have to find and arrest the people behind the whole thing.

(Those who fought against section 9)

2) Maybe we'll find some new info about who the laughing man really was. Did his mom have CB Scleroisis? Or maybe he was fighting for those kids at the hospital.

3) They uncover some sort of jumo concpiracy that we didn't even know about.

etc....

The villain is the General Secretary (can't remember his name), his partners at the associated micromachine companies.

As for your dream, that sounds really weird. I hope it was entertaining, though Big Grin
BabyGhia 04-19-2005 12:22 AM
It's just that the person we thought was the villain ended up not being so bad and that others took what he did to Serrano and made it worse. It's just a big conspiracy. I just hope it unravels in an interesting way.

Seeing the first meeting of Serrano and Aoi was interesting. Really explained the news segment and the events that started this whole thing.

I had no idea the Major was posing as him. That was a surprise. They totally played it off like it wasn't her. I didn't think she had his memories. Hmmm... might have missed that little tibit or did they neglect to tell us?

The episode before the most recent one.

LM: I'm giving you my memories...

Then the major kicks the doctor in the face.

I don't think so because didn't Batou say, why have you never chosen a male shaped body? Though that might not mean anything I suppose.

u mite be right! i dont know! i was curious

Awesome episode! This was a nice twist. chock full of that politcal thriller mumbo jumbo that I love.

I can't think Aramaki would just give up like that, I guess he knows he is powerless against the military so he just gave his crew a headstart.

I think we lost bald section 9 dude, and other nameless guy was captured. Same with togusa.

Although that bartender that works for the major might leak the info.

I don't know. I thought they were trying to suggest that major may have been a guy. Becuase he kept asking her why she chose a female body, and she said because thats what the job required...... well I don't know.
