Could someone explain the technology of this? Thanks!

According to the first movie, Togusa has a "slight brain augmentation." Otherwise he is all human. Not sure about the rest of it though. Maybe they explain it some other time? Not sure.

I think it was said in the show to be an augmentation of his brain stem. Could be wrong.

I actually liked this episode. It was a nice break from all the Laughing Man stuff. Two great stories in one episode.

The first one, gave an interesting look into Batou's Tachicoma. I liked how it interacted with the girl. In a lot of ways all the Tachicomas act like kids. But it was interesting to hear why Batou shouldn't be using Natural oil. Or at least in that case. And the part about the little girl and her pet.

Second one with the movie was rather interesting also. That this movie moved people so much that they were willing to give up their lives to just continue seeing it. A movie so powerful that it even moved the Major. Makes me curious about the movie. What was in it? The Major is usually so unemotional that even she seemed surprised that she was so moved. Guess the filmmaker had such a vision and since no one would work with him, that was the only way he thought he could get his movie out to the public.

Overall, a very interesting episode.

Tonights episode:

They kind of slacked off in the story department IMO and just needed an excuse to have some gunfighting.

Lots of wierdness that didn't really go anywhere, and many nameless terrorists blown away.

A standard episode which I probably don't want to watch twice.

Not much to say really......

At least the major's clothing was sensible this time. Big Grin

Oh and did anyone think about that hearst girl the first time they suggested that a daughter was kidnapped and was now with them.

I liked this episode - if only for the cool action gunfight sequences.

The music track during said gunfight was sweet as well.

I kind of liked the latest Episode. The action was good and it kept me on the edge of my seat. (Well not literally.) By the way, anyone else think the opening song is kind of catchy?

Apparently its sung by a Russian woman.

I love how GitS explores humanity in both its denotation and connotation.

Interesting episode. Left you guessing. Very action oriented. Got to say that I really like the Tachicomas. Glad they gave them that type of personality.

And I'm slowly beginning to like the Major. I always liked Batou and Togusa but it's taken awhile for me to like the Major.

Yah, I'll agree with that. Those three main characters are starting to become more real to me. Unfortunately, it took about half of the entire series for that to happen!

On a side note, did anyone notice the front gun mount modifications for the different Tachikomas? One of them had a gattling gun, while the other had the grenade launcher (if I remember right).

The gernade launcher is the standard weapon for that mount point. However Batou's had the gernade launcher swapped out for a gattling gun.
Edit: I goobered. The modifications were correct, however the gernade launcher does not appear to be standard. I can't really say what normally goes there functions as.
I'd love to have one of those as a buddy/personal mode of transportation. Cool

I liked this episode a lot. It reminded me why I think the show is so good in raising questions that humanity will be facing in the next 50 years or so.

I also thought of Patti Hearst and I'm sure the writers thought of it as well in making the episode.

It could've been longer, though.

It's grown on me, I too have it on my computer.

I have to say...I'm loving this show. It seamlessly moves from the more cerebral episodes to good old fashioned action sequences.

When they air the second season...yeah, if for some ungodly reason I don't get CN down where I'm going to colllege, I'll just spring for the dvds or something. This is too damn good.

(I have yet to see either of the movies, but hopefully that will change soon.)

The manga entertainment site for the show has part of that in the opening flash animation.

Yup, my thoughts also about the potential future issues and the Patti Hearst connection.

I'd say this show is getting better. If anything, it tries new things and deals with true "sci-fi" issues.

Ghost in the Shell is definitely growing on me. I love the issues it brings up, the technologies (and ethical questions relationed to those technologies), but I still have issues with some of the character designs. I'm sure I'd be more into it if not for the major's attire. Everytime I see her in that awful slutty leotard thing with the jacket I'm pulled completely out of the episode. Are we really expected to that this stuff seriously?

Their boss, the white haired guy (I love his VA. Gordon, right?) in tonight's episode commented about the major's costume, something about her trying to distract him. And I just thought 'You're kidding right? She always dresses like a skank.'

Anywho. About tonight's episode. The little android maid girls in the mansion, were they voiced by Lia Sargent? I laughed as soon as I recognized the voice. They were cuties, too bad so many of them got shot Frown Even if they don't have ghosts.

I LOVE how the Osprey is so widely used in the future, I guess they worked out that annoying kink where it tends to explode (or whatever it is that stopped them from making more.)

Yeah..I should really shut up and go watch it now.

Well as you saw she really didn't have a choice this time, much to the amusement of Batou as to why she had to do so.
Aramaki is the name of their boss and is voiced by the same VA as Gordon, and yes, the maids were speaking with Lia's voice.

Talk about heavly armed. Tongue
Interesting that the assassin was useing gold(?) coins as ammo to kill the guy who was stockpileing it.
Does anyone have any idea what the heck happened with Togusa's computer after he and his wife left the room?

That kind of confused me also.

I assume it had something to do with the automated accounting program they mentioned earlier, that his wife had one installed also.

Or I'm totally wrong, and it's some kind of hacker, and it'll wind up playing out in future episodes.

Or I'm even more wrong in thinking it was either, and it was just some throwaway scene with no relevance to anything.

I'm betting on the first one though.
Zopwx2 02-13-2005 01:05 PM
Yeah who else thought it was hilarious that they brought in Lia to voice an android maid............

I liked this episode better than the last one, I started having GitS movie flashbacks when they started out with the garbage truck..

That Robot/android/think with the green orb in its mouth was very awesome thats the kind of action I like to see.

The rest of hte episod was pretty intersting for a stand alone episode, the gold hoarding rich man who dies alone is pretty cliche but still...

I looked it up on some website and supposedly togusa's computer bought Serano Genomix stock, the same company the Laughing Man targeted in his first appearance.

I bet this show is going to get super interesting as we get closer to the end.
