I have no idea. I'm leaving that stuff up to my huge star wars nerd buddies of mine.
But it seems like we might be there the whole day. You know bust out the SW Risk and watch the OT.
Real sexy stuff.

I had Fox & Friends on this morning...what the heck are they trying to do?!
First they say that Star Wars got rave reviews ( YAY!) then one girl says that Star Wars has Bush-bashing in it. Considering the majority of Fox and Friend's audience is conservative why would they say that? Aside from political beliefs you'd have to agree that it's a pretty boneheaded statement on her part, considering her employer, Fox is the distributor of the film. She obviously knows very little about Star Wars to begin with and misinterpereted the film's message. Anyways other than that there is supposed to be a Sick-Out that day. The government just quit while it's ahead and declare May 19th a national holiday.
So it turns out my school is taking a trip to the movies that day...(awesome,right?) wrong instead of seeing ROTS we're going to see...XXX State of the Union. We voted on movies because they told us the school was going on May 12th ( I didn't vote for XXX) but they changed the date to May 19th just to make us suffer. I want to cry.

School is evil! I'll still go with my crush later on...YAY!
I too wonder what I should wear...Leia's slave outfit from Return of the Jedi? That might be too much.

That is supposedly a very, very bad movie. Got horrible reviews.

But they supposedly know what a good film is, which often happens to be the exact opposite of what "the people" like.

Oddly enough, thats not the first I've heard that. I saw it in a review on some movie site also.
Maybe people are seeing a message that isn't there, maybe Lucas has decided "hey thats why the other two prequels were terribly flawed! not enough political commentary!" I don't know.
All I know, is this movie is supposedly supposed to be alot more darker and serious than the last two (no gungans, no insanely annoying child anakin, no computer generated gag monsters in a 50s style diner.) So I'm...trying to be SOMEWHAT optimistic.
I'll see it, just to settle once and for all if the prequels can be redeemed. But, as a boba fett fan since first seeing the trilogy as a kid, I am admittedly still kind of miffed over removing all mystery from the origins of Boba Fett. Showing him as a kid just...removed some of the enigmatic quality he had.

I had Fox & Friends on this morning
Side note: Thats the only morning show I can really stand, because periodically their conversation will just begin meandering randomly. In a fashion somewhat similar to how every conversation I have with my friends usually winds up just leading somewhere completely random.
I remember once, for some reason, someone mentioned the "birds and the bees" analogy in the context of parenting. And for five minutes, two of them got into a whole thing about how exactly the birds fit into it.
Frankly I never got that either, but my parents didn't use that metaphor to begin with. I mean I could see it if it was hummingbirds, as they directly spread pollen. Thats the whole point of the bees I'd always gathered, the pollenation of flowers. Why are there birds though, it's...well, it's not that great a metaphor anyway.

Jedi Temple burning = Twin Towers burning
Me = ahuh, sure.
You know, Episode 1 is pretty dark if you think of it. Palpatine became Chancellor, basically sealing the fate of the Republic and of peace in the galaxy. It took me forever to realize HE is the "Phantom Menace" and not Anakin.
Episode II is dark, too. What with the plot to kill Padme and the beginning of a cataclysmic wat which will not truly end until ROTJ.
Yeah, people looking for political stuff in ROTS are looking waaaay too hard.

About Padme I read on one review site and I quote
quote:
Padme is the new Jar-Jar
The reviewer said the movie kicked arse but he would cringe in any of the Padme's scenes. Her dialogue in the movie isn't the best apparently while Anakin's has really improved. Quite frankly Padme has never been the greatest character. She's written to be responsible, mature, but also to have a delicacy about her. I wouldn't expect her to get the best dialogue. I just pray she doesn't spend half the film sobbing! Then again I remember that in ROTJ Leia describes her mother as being "very sad". I'm a Leia fan so I never really liked Padme to begin with. I'm not sure if it's the character or the actress. Leia was just so awesome, you really kind of wanted to be her if you were a girl. She had so much atitude! Plus she got Han Solo...who wouldn't want to be her!
EDIT-Well while we are waiting with bated breath for ROTS how about some Star Wars
manga?!

Well the "mother" she would have known is the senator, not padme. I think I read
spoiler (highlight to read):
Leia/Luke are basically split up almost immidiately after birth.
Also apparently Anakin going to the dark side is handled alot better in this,
spoiler (highlight to read):
He slaughters pretty much every jedi in training, including children. That makes alot more sense for setting him up as Darth Vader than just assuming that wasting a couple of sandpeople is the height of malice. I mean if killing marauding barbarians who pillage and murder your own family makes you a "bad guy", then it seems easier to empathize with the villains in the movie more than the supposedly heroic characters.

Argh Some people on the TV don't know when to shut off their politcal side of the brain for two hours.
I'm pretty sure the dude who starts his own war in order to gain powers has been around for quite a long time.

You are correct...but going even further, GAT, Palpatine is the phantom menace, as opposed to the Trade Federation and the impending war....

Ill have to agree with that as well...Padme, as strong as she's supposed to be (given Leia's character and the traits she displays in the OT), really comes off as annoying more than anything. She does show signs of strength and leadership, but she also gets exasperated and discouraged so often that it brings her emotions out and it seems like she's having tantrums. In Phantom Menace, she kept annoying me with her responses to Qui-Gon after he starting making wagers on Anakin's podracing skills. Aside from that, as strong as she tries to be with regard to stifling Anakin's romantic advances, she still just comes back with whining about not be able to act on their feelings. On the surface, she tries to come off as strong and confident, under the surface, she's still an immature teenager. Granted, it would make sense, given her responsibilities at such a young age (wasnt she elected Queen of Naboo at the age of 14?). She got so involved with politics at such an early age that it probably stunted some of her development. Leia, on the other hand, seemed to be able to take on both sides of the coin. She could be strong and firm and balance her responsibilities. Yes, she does have her lapses, but she doesnt whine about anything, more often than not, she's aggressive and becomes agitated as opposed to cowering.

God. This is it, the final week of waiting. I've literally spent my past days doing nothing but listening to the soundtrack, playing with my Master Replica F/X lightsaber, and playing Lego Star Wars on my pc.
Yeee!
