Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith *warning, may contain spoilers*

Is there a special edition where the entire "NO ONLY BECAUSE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. NO NO, ONLY BECAUSE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH" exchange between Anakin and Padme is just cut out?

Hell I was GLAD when they crushed her trachea, that character was like nails on a chalkboard the entire movie.

Then again...yeah, the first thing I told people when they asked me what I thought of the movie was "Well it settles the big question. No, Natalie Portman still can't really act."...it's true, the only movie I can really remember her delivering a good performance in was the professional, and I think the director had told her prior to shooting that if she screwed up her scenes, Gary Oldman would tear her lungs out.

Furthermore..yeah was I the only one who left the theater kind of thinking Vader's actions were pretty justified on some levels? Lets face it, the Jedi were kind of...dense..throughout the entire thing ("Huh...balance to the force...and theres only one sith left...Oh balance must mean the absence of one side, yeah that makes sense!!). Going back to the first thing I said though....The fact is Lucas cannot really write dialogue. Even in the originals, it's not THAT good.

Before someone accuses me of hating star wars...no you can have dialogue that isn't the top of the heap and still make a good movie.

Edit: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" LOL LOL INTERNET COMEDY STANDARD. Really, did we need nine million YTMNDs about that?

edit 2: No way in hell am I buying this though. The reason I say "I was pleasantly surprised" is I went to see it with the LOWEST EXPECTATIONS IMAGINABLE. But it's not worth getting the dvd, not until theres a massive drop in the price.

edit 3: Is it wrong I found a computer generated green midget killing people with a lightsaber as awesome as I did?

I bought it for my dad, since he's a big Star Wars fan and was just missing Ep. 3 on DVD. I got a free thing from Best Buy with it which I have yet to look at.

This is probably the worst movie this year next to Saw 2.

Got my copy earlier today from the good old standby, Best Buy, plan to return there tomorrow to see if any of the dimmer employees have put out 'Charlie'.

I haven't even looked at the movie yet but we did watch all 78 minutes of the 'Within a Minute' documentary. It was incredible. The documentary touches on all the departments involved in the making of one 49 second scene on Mustafar, the volcano department. Everything from catering to recording footsteps. Really cool stuff. The bulk of the documentary is on post-production which is, nicely enough, an aspect of film making I knew pretty much nothing about except that it happened and sometimes involves effect shots and re-recording dialogue. The, well one of the rendering departments talked about how they took footage (that they filmed on tight notice themselves) from Mount Etna erupting and used it in the shot. Some of it they ended up rendering their own eruptions from but it seemed most of it they just seamed right into the film. Another guy took a shots from the asphalt parking lot to make up the lava lake. Back at the blue (green) screen they showed how they kept track of where the actors were on the digital set they were to snip them into later. They show what the yellow and white Xs and Ys on the blue screen are for and also used these little little things for close ups.

It was just amazing. For years and years and years I've read in books and magazines and heard in documentaries directors say "Oh, they're so many people involved in the smallest scene you'd be amazed." It was beyond nice to finally get a glimse of it all. Much of the preproduction stuff was just review for me and too with the actual filming of the scene and I knew about soundboards, and that they record sound effects (leather, footsteps, so on) but there were departments I didn't even know about. Really really cool stuff. Loved it to pieces.

I ran across two websites that may be of interest to Star Wars fans. One is The Sith Explained, a thorough compilation of the origin and history of the Sith. The other is How the Death Star Works. another entry in the "How Stuff Works" website. This site also includes How Lightsabers Work, a very amusing description of every Jedi's (or Sith's) favorite blade.

Well I knew about lightsabers already, but the Death Star looks rather interesting.

Besides Episode Three sucking and all...

BATTLEFRONT 2 kicks major ass.

Anyone here got it for the PS2 and want to get their asses handed to them online?

Yeah, Gamespy pissed me off about that one. They said Battlefront 2 sucked fiercely in one review, then in another review gave it 5 stars.

Gamespy itself sucks...

You know what? This game DOES kick copious amounts of ass. Except for the fact that the space missions cause crash to desktop just as I'm about to win.

Over Thanksgiving Break, I checked out Revenge of the Sith and in the first five minutes during the whole space fighting scene, I was like "Well, we know who won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects". I mean, the visual effects throughout the whole movie were top-tier and just so damn amazing.

I didn't think it was AS bad as you guys made it out to be but I didn't really have that big of a problem with Natalie Portman's performance. Sure, there was times when I wanted to duck tape her mouth shut and throw her into the lava pits myself but I thought that overall, it was tolerable. "Ani, you're breaking my heart!" That was bad... just bad. But she's so damn fine...

The Obi-Wan/Anakin fight scene was... sweet doesn't do it justice but that's what it was. The part with Obi-Wan and Anakin talking to each other after Obi did him up was touching. Dude, you really, really shouldn't have jumped...

Other stuff it was sweet watching Yoda fight and use his power. Damn, that little boy can hold his own and Darth Sidious is a punk. It was also interesting to see how obviously and yet with such charm that Palpaltine was suckering the kid so damn much and Anakin just ate it all up. And last, the end to see Darth Vader rise up like that was so amazing and nice to see how he came to be and everything be wrapped up. Overall, I think that its my second favorite SW movie, tied with "A New Hope" but to me, not as good as "The Empire Strikes Back". That's all I got to say about that.
Peace.

Alright, I liked Ep III. The Anakin/Obi-Wan fight is the greatest lightsaber fight of any of the movies. There are some low points, I'll admit, but there are in the original films as well. Christensen learned how to act, but Portman definitely forgot. I won't even blame Lucas for the lines. A good actor should be able to turn anything into gold. Though Harrison Ford once told Lucas "You can write this sh**, but you can't say it!"

After buying the DVD, Ive watched it 3 more times, and I must say that I enjoyed it more as I watched it. Still Portman wasnt anything to right home about, but I was really impressed with Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan, I thought he was simply amazing. Iam McDiarmid did an incredible job as Palpatine, I thought, as well.

I loved how Yoda got owned by Palpatine. And yes, thats what happened. Yoda lost...plain and simple. Yeah, he lived to fight another day, but he still was owned by Palpatine and had to go into hiding.

The Anakin/Obi-Wan fight was great; I still havent thought about whether that fight or the Darth Maul/Obi-Wan/Qui Gon fight was the best.

That's what I thought about the whole movie. McGregor did his thing and McDiarmid was not too bad either as Sidious and Palpatine. Christensen did get better in this episode but still, I can pretty much either take or leave him.

I wouldn't really say that Yoda got owned by Palpatine, it just looked like he gave up and retreated. Palpatine had reinforcements coming and Yoda just thought "The hell with this. Another day, I fight I will."

The Obi-Wan and Greivous fight was pretty damn good as well but still nothing touches the Anakin/Obi-Wan fight. It's just intouchable.
Peace.

ANAKIN!

COUGH! COUGH!

STOP IT!

COUGH!

ANAKIN! PLEASE STOP!

You see, I finally bought the holy trilogy on DVD, and it would be a lot better if I didn't see Christensen's face at the end...and a screwed up Greedo scene.
Nine Kuze 11-30-2005 02:01 PM
There's one major thing that's been bothering me about 'Revenge of the Sith' and it really has nothing to do with the movie, the plot or anything else of the sort but...

In the opening credits, it reads; "Ewan McGregor", "Natalie Portman", "Hayden Christensen". Does anybody else see a problem with this as well or is it just my insansity kicking in again? I can understand McGregor getting the top billing for the marquee but why the hell is Portman ahead of Christensen? Confused Confused Seriously, I don't understand. It should be Christensen, McGregor, Portman or McGregor, Christensen, and Portman but Natalie Portman SHOULD NOT BE AHEAD OF EITHER CHRISTENSEN OR MCGREGOR!!! It just really gets to me because Portman's performance in the film was... well, you probably know what I was going to say.

Think of it like this: If you take The Matrix and have "Lawrence Fishburne", "Carrie Anne-Moss", and "Keanu Reeves", that doesn't make sense does it. No offense to Anne-Moss because she does her thing in the trilogy but I'm just trying to prove a point. Man...
Peace.

Yeah, Ill admit, the Greedo edit, or whatever, is messed up...shouldve kept it the way it was...

As for Christensen being edited back in at the end...I dont really care whatsoever...Sebastian Shaw doesnt seem to fit the part though...oh well...

I actually think Hayden at the end makes perfect sense. I mean, Anakin never looked like Shaw to begin with.
