It went out with a bang; I think we should all be happy

Valkir 12-30-2003 03:31 PM
I just voted on the polls. Over half the people here think Big O should have a sequel; I just don't see how ANYONE could live up to what Sunrise did. There's no way they could make it better. Big O went out with a huge bang! It can't go on forever and if we try to make it last longer with more seasons it will die with a whimpering flitter.

At first I also wanted a season three... but i don't know now.
YZEtc 12-30-2003 03:37 PM
Well, I want more not only because I just want more The Big O , but also because I wasn't satisfied with the ending at all.

Edit:
Ooooh.
My very first Red Star

well i'm sorry but i can't agree with you of course big o went out with a bang jus like seoson 1 went out with a bang but i need more i don't say this because of my own selfish reasons but this was enven a worse ending than season 1 it leaves to many questions unanswered and it really sucks
Valkir 12-30-2003 03:42 PM
Well... I guess, I just hope fi they do another season it will live up to the standards they have set.

Episode 13 and 26 are not the same at all. With the unedited ending, 26 had the perfect amount of closure, "We have come to terms" and all. There was really no question as to whether it was unfinished.

If there is a new season, then I can't see how they will be able to avoid watering it down and overexplaining things. As it is now, it's perfect in that it sparks conversation, speculation, and deep thought. Continuing on will destroy that. It's true that they could come up with something new (possibly better), but where we are now isn't that bad.
Pythagoras 12-30-2003 03:56 PM
Well, it does seem pretty clear now that there will be a third season since CN pulled the last 30 seconds on 4 separate occassions. I think with them in there, you could definitely say Big O had reached a satisfying terminus. But with them gone, you can't really say that since you have no idea what happens to the Paradigm world.

Big O didn't go out with a bang, it went out with a whimper.

An ending should have resolution, and not leave the audience demanding answers.
Zopwx2 12-30-2003 05:43 PM
Yes the ending didnt help resolve the show at all.

The whole world is false, and its past, present, and future all controlled by Angel.

Thats the ending?
X Prime 12-30-2003 06:05 PM
I agree with the two posters above... But there's one thing.. If Angel is in absolute control, wouldn't she in theory take care of everything that is too much for Roger? Unless of course another Director shows up...
Pythagoras 12-30-2003 06:26 PM
What do you mean by "too much for Roger?"
X Prime 12-30-2003 06:30 PM
Well, OK, that may have been badly worded. Maybe not 'too much' for Roger, but I mean basically lighten the bumps on the road that is his life, if you get my meaning.

What I mean is, if Angel's running the show, there is no more 'suspense' to Roger's fate, as I doubt she will allow him to suffer a particularly nasty fate now.
R and D 12-30-2003 07:48 PM
there is only one phrase i can think of that suits this thread perfectly.

BIG O GO BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!

nuff...............said. Pleased lol! Anime Smile Big Grin
Valkir 12-30-2003 07:51 PM
IMHO opinion, it did go out with a bang, it was the final showdown with Fau and everything. You are left to fill in the blanks. And that last scene (not counting the credits) was one the most stunning (and one fo my favorites) when Big Venus walks right into Big O and they disappear into one another.

I would be fine with a season three, if the creaotrs could pull it off, which I doubt. The ending credits shows Roger saying that stuff and Dorothy and Angel happy; Dorothy also appears more human. And, at the end it says "We have come to terms".

Where the hell would they go from there? It would be crap if they tried. It's up to you figure it out how you want to.
Zopwx2 12-30-2003 10:14 PM
Sure there was a kick ass megadeus battle and a visually stunning end, but after all is said and done, the show as a whole is still ripe with unexpained events, scenes, characters, etc.

Plus the "We have come to terms" refers to the success or faliure of Rogers negotiations, not necassarily the outcome of the show.
Valkir 12-30-2003 10:18 PM
....You make very good points Zop. I'll just be happy with whatever Sunrise/as decides to do.
JMA 12-31-2003 03:09 AM
I don't want to "fill in the blanks" myself. That's the job of the writers.

I really, really hope there is a season three.

who said anything had to be over explained! and the whole conversation thing is great and all but don't you get sick of it? i mean all we can do is wonder i don't know about you but i don't like to just sit and wonder what happened i want to know then that will spark even more question of y he did what he did and i agree where we are isn't bad but it isn't good either.

There were no unanswered questions. They just seem to ahve been answered in a language some don't understand.

If there were a third season it would have to explore compeletely differntly material, in the new world--probably quite differnt than the Paradigm city we know--created in episode 26. Perhaps it would be be better to concetrate on establishing new realtionships between the characters--there ahs already been a joking suggestion here that a new romantic triangle could be established in which the primary attatchement was between Angel and Dorothoy with Roger on the outside. But something like that could lend new interest--it would certianly help sell the show in Japan! And such a series could have a happier, a finer tone--which seems to be something that many in the fan community want to see. The new season could be like the Paradiso comapred to the Inferno we have already seen. I certianyl would have no interst in seeing a rehashing of older material--as often seems to be envisioned here and eslwhere.

Yes, this is the only ending that is possible, beucase the world we inhabit is false. You are not so naive that you thing your senses are telling you the truth, are you?

Angel is the fallen angel Lucifer, the demiurge, the creator of the world of illusion our pshyical bodies inhabit which keeps us from knowing the real world of the spirit--our lost memeories of th world as it is. This is not ficition--it is a turth revealed through art.

ok. So Malkhos, you may think a season 3 is unnecasary, that good for you.

Don't watch it. Stick with the ending you like.

Just don't ruin the hopes of others, why should you get to choose for us wether or not they continue big o ?

I've always been intrested in the details of big o's story, we could discuss some overall message for the show, but I want to know specifics.
