What is this show anyway?

I have a classmate who owns the entire series on DVD, and she would continously rant about the show and it wouldn't make any sense. I asked if I could borrow a DVD, but she wouldn't let me! Please, could someone give me a good explaination about the show! (I don't have the kind of money to buy the DVDs anytime soon, so an explaination will haveta do).

Just the sheer enjoyment of the viewers talking about how funny it is makes my stomach twirl (and actually hurt!) to go out and by the DVDs!!! But my stupid parents have a thing for me on spending money on anime!!! GRRRRR!!!!

OMFG, I HAVE to see Excel Saga RIGHT NOW!!!!!

There is an occasional F-Bomb and some violence, but other than that and Episode 26...

As I've said many a time, if you nearly (or did!) piss your pants at Act 18: The Greatest Villian, than you'd love Excel Saga.

Excel Saga is mental crack, pure and simple. It's funny, off the wall insane and damn entertaining. I recommend it, though I've never seen all of it. Would it be appropriate for a 6 year old? Depends on the six year old, though I'd advise against it. Can be a bit provocative at times.

If you allow a six-year-old to see ALL of Excel Saga, someone should call Child Protective Services on your a$$. Watch it first, then decide.

Exception: Episode 26. ESPECIALLY Episode 26! Do NOT allow a child to see Episode 26! Don't allow a TEENAGER to see Episode 26!

The person who dies alot?

Hyatt... no she just faints.... but still... its at the most inapporpiate times... i bet you friends were saying "she like dies"... like what people say when NO ONE POSTS IN AN RPG ANY MORE!!!

its very funny... there is serious story in there... but its mixed with halarity... and the main story has little to do with the main character... its just some other red shirt man doing things that happen to be connected...

you really should get it... it very funny...

Actually, Schwartzwald, they pointed out in the show that when Hyatt "faints", she is in fact DEAD. No heartbeat, no pulse. This has been the subject of some VERY dark humor. In the very last episode, she was about to be autopsied when she (or her body, rather) got up and horrified the coroner.

It got nothin' on Excel Saga. And Excel Saga doesn't try to have a plot like FLCL, either.

The very basic outline is that there is a group of aliens trying to take over earth. Their leader on Earth is this bishonen dude with HUGEASS shoulderpads and his followers are two airheaded girls who always mess up their assignments.

There's everything that can possibly offend people in this - dog-eating, perverse boy-guitarists, Hyatt dying every episode (sometimes VERY messily), big afros, space butlers, the Will of the Universe trying to Get Some, socially backward neighbors, one pedophile (he does get offed - YAY!), the manga artist of the series getting killed in a gruesome fashion, and kwoot widdle aliens that try to take over the earth.

The capper is the ending credits when the dog (who is named 'Dog Stew') SINGS about becoming Excel's dinner and just getting it over with.

Dark, disgusting, not for the faint-of-heart - but damned funny.

i never understood the appeal of this show. I mean, it was pointless, overly violent for no apparent reason, and i didn't even find the humor that funny anyways. And oh yeah, it's weird, really really weird and it makes absolutely no sense at all. That's maybe some of the reasons why i don't like the show too much.

I just started watching Excel Saga today, just the first two episodes.

It kicks ass.

Sure it's completely bizarre, weird, confusing, and sick. That's why I like it.

But that poor little cat-looking doggy. What that little guy goes through is probably the biggest part of why it won't be on CN anytime soon.

I just watched Episode 22 and nearly pissed myself. One big cross between the Puchu, Captain Harlock, and Gundam.

Now I have someone who's never heard of Excel Saga and just watched it, and now's he's bragging about how kick ass it is! Great, now it just makes the anticipation of seeing it grow even more!!!
