Paradigm is well......Paradigm It is a new city, becuase of the carnage, and the flooding anything that may have tied it to a prsent day city, has be lost...

I beg to differ.
Paradigm is... NEW YORK. The setting of Big O (according to the english part of the manual on my Big O model kit) is 100 years from now, more specifically the islan of Manhatten.
The evidence is all over the place in the series.... the hudson river, jfk mark, saint pats cathedral ...not to mention the double-wide subways (something native only to NYC), a hydroelectric plant in what looks suspiciously like upstate NY, farms out on "Islesberry" (Long Island), strikingly-familiar suspension bridges, occasional brief views of structures bearing a striking similarity to the Twin Towers, the specifically New York-esque style of architecture... etc....
New york! New York!

Well, I live in New York, and scarily enough, I can imagine it becoming something that resembles Paradigm. Not that I want New York to become Paradigm or anything ^^;;; hmmm, maybe I’ve said too much?

Wow,it's unhealthy for one person to know that much about Big O.Do you have any hobbies?

Yes I have many hobbies, including which is Star Trek, and you can just IMAGINE how much I know about that. I really love Big O, and as such I know a lot about it.

That explains the Trekkie in your SN.

Hey, I thought the Twin Towers were in there (at least the shape)! You can see it when they do pan views or something from a bridge. I wonder what they'd be used for in Paradigm?

Hiyas and I'm a newbie here, but, that's beside the point...yeah, it is New York, cause I do see the resemblance. When I 1st heard about JFK, I knew it was the airport...I wonder what happened in NYC to be covered in clouds by that? Possible Nuclear Attack? and you know, that's not a possibility, cause if the event did happen, probably someone panicked and decide to launch something...

I once heard the clouds were smog. Though I don't really believe that.
I think the clouds were more of an after effect of the event, whatever it maybe.
I agree about the after nuke effect like when the supposed meteor hit the earth it caused the ice age. I could see a nuke war doing that to the world..
and it is ny

I would also say its New York...for the whole JFK mark and mentioning of the Hudson in Bring Back My Ghost....not to mention the obvious traffic and smog out in the streets

I think that's not smog though...how the manga and the anime says about the sun not shining for 40 years....it has to be the aftereffect and possibly, they are going through a nuclear winter as well.. that's why they built the domes

Then why do some citizens live outside the domes if it such a risk?
| RyuHayabusaDOA2 |

cause they didn't seize the opportunity to live inside the domes.. and possibly, they can't afford the high cost of living there....read the manga for the info..it's in volume 1....and yeah,. the anime makes it clear as well...that's my theory I guess

Hmm...now u got me intrigued...i guess ill have to pick up a copy of my own

)
Yes i do remember in one of the episodes the noting of its high cost of living. And now that i think about it...the nuclear blast theory is probable.

yeah...and the manga goes into a lot more detail about the nature of Paradigm and Roger's early adventures. Plus, I think it will be in the same vein of the Eva manga...that the author will shorten or expand on the anime version..like episode 1 for instance. But yeah, and also, it looks like it snows quite often...

theres no doubt its New York, however i think the twin towers were the first to go the taller buildings were the frist to be destroyed and the domes were built over them.,i honestly doubt a nuclear blast, well maybe a small one,but alot of the buildings outside the domes are older but the ones inside the domes are new. Also, remember a portion of the city is underwater(possible polar ice cap melting, from high amounts of nuclear blasts)
A nuclear winter explains the clouds.
that brings up an interesting thought though, maybe when the megadeus's rebelled, hte humans used a atom bomb to stop their rampage, portions of new york were destroyed(where the domes are) but also the emp from the blast deactivated the robots. til they could be resurrected by their pilots 40 years later

yeah...that's a big reason to deactivate everything inside the megadeus..that's a good point.

However, if a pilot is required to initiate their startup again then how was the Megadeus from "The Call from the Past" ressurected? Unless perhaps the divers had accidently turned it on...Paradign after all had no use for the worthless megadeus.
