Butterfly effect....

I saw it while the fourms were down. I have to say that It is a very good movie. It wasn't out too long ago. I'll just like turn into another Donnie darko, in that I mean have a cult following, then it'll slowly start to grow.

But anyway, it's about a kid who had like blackouts. No one can figure out why, so he started to keep these journals. But anyway. One of his friends goes totaly wako, and beats him up, aswell as is own sister and burns his dog. well anyway he movies, he said that he would come back for this girl (The sister of the crazy kid) 13 (5 years after moving) years later he's in colage. he stops having blackouts. Well anyway to make a long story short, he goes back to his home town. the girl's working as a waitress in this diner. Well anyway, he makes her all deprest and she kills herself. So by reading the entries in his journals, he can go back and change time, also fills in the blank spots. But some times it changes not for the better. so he comes up with this plan to go back and not make friends with this girl ever....that way everything that happen never did, and everything was set right. Just wach the movie for more.

From all I've heard, it's basically Donnie Darko with alot of just very superfluous content to make it "depressing" and whatnot.

spoiler (highlight to read):
the directors cut ending is a fetus asphyxiating itself by wrapping the umbilical cord around its neck.

I haven't seen it yet, but..yeah, it does seem like somewhat of a sloppy imitation.

It really isn't Donnie Darko....I've seen both....this is totaly diffrent. Because of the time warp, airplane engene and the "end of the world" thing with Donnie Darko. This is just like he can just go back in time to whenever he had the blackouts when he reads his journal, changes it, then wakes up with a bloody nose and the future's out diffrent.

I like Donnie Darko better, but The Butterfly Effect is still good. Butterfly Effect had alot more sort of shock value things, like the dog, but overall I liked it.

It was just too crepy for me

It was a surprisingly good movie, especially with Ashton Kuthcher in it (cuz he is teh s uck). However, it isn't as good as Donnie Darko.

Can it be compared to Donnie Darko? Yes. They both have a dark tone to it and the themes in the movie are quite similar. However, the plots are very different for each movie.

Well I haven't see it since I really have a hard time seeing Ashton Kutcher ( no offense to any of his fans I'm just used to seeing him in lighter roles) in this type of role but maybe I'll check it out.

He's accualy good in it. I mean there are a few parts that are kind of a died down type of humor that he does....

spoiler (highlight to read):
Like wakeing up from changeing the past in his girlfriend's bed in a sarority house.....then he has to walk naked down this hall of all these girls that know him, but he doesn't know them since he woke up in her bed for the first time ever, because the bathrooms on the other side of the house, and he wanted to freshen up....

When I first saw the trailers for this movie, I thought "oh great, another lousy teen flick." In fact, I only saw this movie because I was dragged along by some friends. I have to say that I was surprised that I actually liked this movie. While it's not perfect (and I wouldn't even rank it as the same calibre movie as Donnie Darko), it is something I'd be inclined to watch again and recommend to others. I'm not even an Ashton Kutcher fan, but I thought he was surprisingly good in TBE.

Man what an insult.

Donnie Darko was released in TINY theatres before aquiring a cult following and re-release. I had to originally go to the 3rd street promenade with my friend Jolene (the short asian girl who says "CHUTUP!!!!" in DD) to see her movie, because I couldn't make the premier.

This piece of mediocre mainstream was released nationally and really has very little to compare other than a good story.
